The High Point University Office of Counseling Services is seeking a Licensed Clinical Counselor to join the clinical team in providing therapeutic services that enhance student mental health and well-being and support the University’s overall mission.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

  • Master’s degree in Counseling or Social Work.

Experience and Training

  • North Carolina Board Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, LCSW, LMFT
  • Experience working with college or university counseling center preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Ability:

  • Knowledge of broad range of counseling methods
  • Knowledge of and ability to use crisis intervention skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written; strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with a team of clinical professionals

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Supports the mission and activities of the Office of Counseling Services.
  • Adheres to legal and ethical guidelines of governing licensure board.
  • Maintains confidential clinical documentation using electronic health record system.
  • Provides counseling support services for High Point University students in a variety of formats and dimensions, including provision of individual and group therapy, prevention, outreach, consultation, and referral.
  • Assists clients in exploring all their options when considering a leave of absence or withdrawal from the University.
  • Supports off-campus referrals for counseling and psychiatric needs when necessary.
  • Supports training, consultation, and development for students and faculty as it relates to mental health and wellness issues.
  • Supports strategies for prevention/harm reduction plans for students
  • Provides assessments and assists with facilitation of sanctioned psychoeducational education groups through collaboration with the Office of Student Conduct.
  • Collaborates with the Prevention Specialist and Addiction Specialist.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Student Services and Executive Director of Counseling Services.
