Job Description
The Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) functions as a Case Manager to manage quality and cost components of health care for patients with diabetes. Assessments reflect special consideration for the following age categories: Pediatrics, Adolescent, Young Adult, middle-aged Adult, Older Adult. The CDE acts as a consultant to nursing staff and other health care professionals to provide specialized knowledge and enhance quality and cost-effective care, demonstrates leadership skills as a diabetes expert by facilitating changes in patient care delivery, contributes to educational and professional development of nursing staff and other healthcare professionals, maintains current knowledge of latest research and current trends in diabetes care, capable of functioning as independent practitioner, and demonstrates effective communication skills.
Qualifications
Education:
- ASN/BSN (preferred) or Bachelors
License/ Certification:
- Registered Licensed Dietician, or Valid Oklahoma Board of Nursing RN license, CDE preferred
- BLS required
Experience: 1 - 3 years prior experience preferredO
