Provides individualized nutritional assessment, counseling, and follow-up for outpatients as scheduled. Assists in development and implementation of nutrition education programs for hospital staff and the community which may include public speaking, cooking classes, grocery store tours, etc. Develops and conducts outpatient education classes related to diabetes, cardiovascular disease, weight management, etc. Assists with in-house screening, assessment, instruction, and monitoring as needed; has direct care with infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
Duties & Responsibilities
+ Upon determined need, provides nutrition education to outpatients on prescribed diet.
+ Records appropriate patient data in the electronic medical record.
+ Contacts physician regarding individual patient cases requiring further discussion of nutritional care.
+ Serves as a departmental and hospital representative to provide nutritional expertise at community functions as requested.
+ Assists in the development and implementation of nutrition education programs for hospital staff and the community.
+ Develops and conducts outpatient education classes related to diabetes, cardiovascular disease, weight management, etc.
+ Participates in evaluation/revision of the Nutrition Care Manual by the Clinical Dietetics Staff.
+ Knowledgeable in basic computer skills and maintains ability to perform basic functions within the CBORD Diet Office system.
Qualifications
+ A minimum of a four-year baccalaureate degree with American Dietetic Association (ADA) approved curriculum from an accredited college or university.
+ Completion of internship or qualifying experience previously approved by ADA.
+ Registered Dietitian, registered through written exam administered by the American Dietetic Association, or registry eligible applicants considered with stipulation of becoming registered within 12 months from date of hire.
+ Innovative, self-motivated individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience in an acute care medical facility with responsibilities for assessing and teaching normal and modified nutrition.
