Job Summary

The Clinical Dietitian I delivers evidence-based medical nutrition therapy and education to patients, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to enhance clinical outcomes. This role prioritizes patient care based on nutritional risk and supports Harris Health's mission to provide high-quality, patient-centered care. The Clinical Dietitian I documents care using the Nutrition Care Process (NCP), ensures regulatory compliance, contributes to department and system initiatives, and trains new staff and interns after one year of clinical experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Degrees:

Masters of Dietetics, Food Science or Nutrition; In accordance with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, starting January 1, 2024, individuals who are seeking eligibility for the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) examination for the first time must have completed at least a graduate degree from a U.S. regionally accredited institution or a foreign equivalent.

  • However, individuals who established eligibility for the RDN exam on or before December 31, 2023, or those who are already registered, are not required by CDR to obtain a graduate degree.

Licenses & Certification:

Registered Dietitian prior to hire

Licensed Dietitian (LD) State of Texas within 60 days of hire

Eligible certifications: Advanced Practitioner Certification in Clinical Nutrition (RDN-AP), Board Certification as a Specialist in Renal Nutrition (CSR); Board Certified Specialist in Obesity and Weight Management (CSOWM); Board Certification in Oncology Nutrition (CSO); Board Certified Specialist in Pediatric Nutrition (CSP); Specialist in Pediatric Critical Care Nutrition (CSPCC); Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC); Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES), Board Certified-Advanced Diabetes Management (BC-ADM) preferred.

Work Experience: One year experience in Dietetics/Nutrition preferred.
