Pay: $90k - $100k (DOE)

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Clinical Director to oversee the clinical operations of an adult, co-ed, dual diagnosis detox/residential treatment center in Des Moines, Iowa. This facility serves individuals struggling with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions in a structured, compassionate, and recovery-focused environment.

The Clinical Director will be responsible for leading the clinical team, ensuring quality client care, maintaining compliance with all applicable standards, and supporting the overall success of the treatment program. This position requires an active Iowa clinical license as an LISW, LMFT, or LMHC. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership experience within a behavioral health, substance use disorder, detox, residential, PHP, or IOP setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily clinical operations of the detox/residential treatment program
  • Provide leadership, supervision, and support to therapists, case managers, group facilitators, and clinical support staff
  • Ensure clinical services are delivered in accordance with company policies, licensing standards, accreditation requirements, and best practices
  • Review and monitor clinical documentation, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, group notes, discharge summaries, and continuing care plans
  • Lead and participate in treatment team meetings, clinical case consultations, and interdisciplinary care coordination
  • Support individualized treatment planning for clients with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health concerns
  • Monitor client progress and ensure appropriate clinical interventions are being implemented
  • Assist with crisis intervention, clinical escalations, and higher-level client care concerns as needed
  • Provide clinical training, mentorship, and performance feedback to clinical staff
  • Maintain strong collaboration with medical, nursing, operations, admissions, utilization review, and administrative teams
  • Support program development, clinical quality improvement, and staff accountability
  • Ensure timely and accurate clinical documentation in the electronic medical record system
  • Assist with audits, compliance reviews, and preparation for licensing or accreditation surveys
  • Promote a trauma-informed, client-centered, and recovery-oriented treatment environment

Qualifications

  • Must hold an active clinical license in the state of Iowa as an LISW, LMFT, or LMHC
  • Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field required
  • Prior experience in a clinical leadership or supervisory role strongly preferred
  • Experience working in substance use disorder, dual diagnosis, detox, residential, PHP, IOP, or behavioral health treatment settings
  • Strong understanding of clinical documentation, treatment planning, ASAM criteria, crisis intervention, and discharge planning
  • Experience supervising clinical staff and supporting multidisciplinary treatment teams
  • Knowledge of compliance, licensing, and accreditation standards preferred
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record systems preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced residential treatment environment
