Job Summary and Qualifications

The Division Manager, Transition to Practice is responsible for overseeing the comprehensive plan for meeting the strategic needs of nurses transitioning to practice. This position demonstrates a high degree of responsibility and accountability. Responsible for ensuring all standardized components for RN Residency/RN Fellowship programs (HCA Healthcare Nurse Residency), HCA Healthcare Center for Clinical Advancement (HHCCA) Preceptor, and other identified programs specific to transition to practice are consistently operationalized without deviation or variability throughout all participating practice settings and/or sites within assigned division. Serves as the primary point of contact for transition to practice programs within assigned division.

  • Leads coordination, managing, facilitating, conducting, and evaluating onboarding and orientation programs for the new Registered Nurse within assign site(s).
  • Provides and assists with orientation/onboarding and transition to practice programs to promote employee retention within assigned site(s)
  • Collaborates with recruitment, human resources, and leadership within assigned sites in verifying participants meet orientation requirements and achieve desired outcomes
  • Participates and provides lifelong learning to promote continuing personal development
  • Provides expertise in identifying professional development needs of individual staff
  • Assists with identifying areas for individual growth in current role and grooming for advancement.
  • Directs staff to career advancement resources
  • Participates in the development, coordination, managing, facilitating, conducting, and evaluating competency for assigned site(s)
  • Comprehends and interprets competencies to staff. Services as a role model for competent practice.
  • Identifies learning needs of new registered nurses and assist in comparing practice gaps, comparing competencies to actual practice.
  • Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating programs in adherence to standardized enterprise transition to practice programs and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Practice Transition Accreditation Program (PTAP) criteria for assigned division. 

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing Required
  • Master’s degree in Nursing or Education Preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in clinical education or leadership Required
  • 3+ years of experience in acute care hospital Required

Licenses, Certifications, & Training:

  • Registered nurse with a current, valid license as an RN, in accordance with law and regulation Required
  • Basic Life Support Required
  • Nationally Recognized Specialty certification Preferred
