    Responsibilities

    The Nurse Educator orients new staff to the position and department. Plans and conducts various education activities for the staff. Effectively communicates both in writing and verbally. Reports to the Director or designee.

    • Plans and conducts a variety of orientation activities for personnel to meet competency assessment requirements to conform with departmental objectives and accreditation standards.
    • Oversees new staff progression through the orientation process, completes and maintains orientation documentation in compliance with regulatory agencies, and develops/maintains orientation materials to keep information current.
    • Oversees and coordinates staff education activities to provide opportunities for staff development by assessing learning needs and coordinating education plans, staying current with new developments in training techniques/programs, and utilizing expertise in areas of specialization to provide consultation services to staff.
    • Provides leadership to staff to ensure teamwork by displaying expected behaviors to encourage staff growth, participating in performance improvement JCAHO activities to ensure regulatory compliance, and carrying out research using evidence-based practices.
    • Promote appropriate practice changes to ensure the achievement of desired patient outcomes.
