Job Summary:

The Speech and Hearing Center at Mercy University, Dobbs Ferry Campus is seeking a Part-time Clinical Educator to supervise graduate student clinicians. Preferred specialty in childhood apraxia of speech and/or speech sound disorders.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • Provide direct clinical supervision treatment sessions.
  • Comply with the ASHA standards of supervision for in-person and remote sessions.
  • Adhere to ASHA and NYS ethical standards for clinical practice in speech-language pathology Assist students to provide clinical services in a culturally competent manner, using client-centered and family-centered practices
  • Meet individually with student clinicians at least weekly and as needed. Includes planning and orientation for new cases.
  • Provide both summative and formative constructive feedback to the student.
  • Edit student clinical documentation.
  • Schedule and complete student conferences at midterm and final
  • Ensure students have maintained accurate clinical records and clock hours (lesson plans, SOAP notes, treatment plans and progress reports).
  • Approve clinic clock hours on Calipso.
  • Evaluate students'' clinical competencies on CALIPSO.
  • Submit grade recommendations to the Clinic Director at midterm and final.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • At least 3 years of supervisory experience of graduate students or clinical fellows
  • Experience in academic clinical setting preferred
  • Adhere to ASHA supervisory and license standards

Education Requirements:

  • MS in Communication Disorders or Speech-Language Pathology
  • Teacher of Students in Speech and language Disabilities (TSSLD or TSHH) preferred
  • NYS SLP License
  • ASHA CCCs

Physical/Other Requirements:

  • Must be able to meet all general health requirements for the position as per university policies
