Description
Job Summary
We are seeking an accomplished leader to direct and oversee a comprehensive clinical engineering program within a healthcare system. This role involves managing a team of supervisors and technical professionals, ensuring high-quality biomedical services, and aligning technology management strategies with organizational goals. The Clinical Engineering Director will be responsible for driving operational excellence, maintaining regulatory compliance, and supporting patient care priorities through effective leadership and innovation.
Responsibilities
Oversee and manage all aspects of the clinical engineering program, including maintenance, repair, and calibration of medical equipment
Lead a team of supervisors and technical staff, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance management
Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, compliance, and service quality
Collaborate with hospital leadership and clinical teams to align biomedical services with patient care objectives
Monitor compliance with regulatory standards, safety protocols, and hospital policies
Manage departmental budgets, vendor relationships, and contract negotiations
Identify opportunities for team development and continuous improvement in healthcare technology management (HTM)
Provide oversight of clinical staff for program management and regulatory compliance
Lead project management and capital planning efforts related to medical technology
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
5 years of experience managing biomedical services within a large healthcare system
Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance standards, including CIHQ, DNV, and Joint Commission (JCAHO)
Experience collaborating with executive leadership and C-suite stakeholders to align HTM strategies with organizational goals
Demonstrated success leading high-performing teams, including mentoring and developing staff
Strong business acumen with proven decision-making skills in budget management and strategic planning
Education and/or Experience
Bachelors degree in engineering, healthcare technology management, or a related field, or equivalent experience
Minimum of 5 years of management experience in clinical engineering, biomedical services, or related fields
Nice to Have
Advanced leadership training or certifications in healthcare technology management
Experience with capital planning and large-scale project management in a healthcare environment
Proven ability to foster strong relationships with customers, staff, and vendors
