Primary Duties and Responsibilities

As a Dietitian I, you will provide medical nutrition therapy and nutrition care to patients with complex medical conditions in a large, fast-paced academic healthcare environment. You will perform comprehensive nutrition assessments and reassessments, complete nutrition screenings, develop individualized care plans, document patient care in the electronic health record, provide nutrition education, and implement and monitor nutrition interventions across diverse patient populations.

Responsibilities include diagnosing malnutrition, conducting Nutrition-Focused Physical Exams (NFPE), managing therapeutic diets, and providing nutrition support through enteral and parenteral nutrition. This role supports patients across the lifespan, including NICU, pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations.

The Dietitian I collaborates closely with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, medical staff, ancillary departments, and food service personnel to deliver high-quality patient care. The Dietitian I provides direct supervision and guidance to the unit Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR) and participates in department initiatives, meetings, and performance improvement activities.

  • Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
  • Strong communication, documentation, and patient education skills.
  • Ability to assess nutritional needs, provide medical nutrition therapy, and work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Previous clinical experience preferred from an academic hospital setting but not required.
