Schedule: Monday-Friday, Day Shift
Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Virology laboratory is responsible for all high-complexity infectious disease clinical testing for inpatient, outpatient, and outreach. The Clinical Lab Scientist performs a range of standard and/or technically demanding procedures in one or more of the Clinical Laboratory disciplines exercising initiative and independent judgment. Communicates technical or general information to their manager, director, & medical staff. Participate in administrative activities. Provides expertise and serves as a technical resource for others. May provide functional supervision to support staff.
Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience:
Required:
- Minimum 1 year of post-baccalaureate clinical training as a Clinical Lab Scientist in a clinical laboratory, OR
- Minimum 1 year of work experience as a CLS performing high complexity testing in hematology, chemistry, blood bank, and microbiology in a CLIA-certified clinical laboratory by the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)
For Clinical Lab Scientist with Limited California License:
- Minimum 1 year of post-baccalaureate clinical training, OR
- Minimum 1 year of work experience in the specialty area related to the license.
Preferred:
- 1+ year of clinical experience in the specialty or subspecialty areas of the clinical laboratory.
Education/Licensure/Certifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree meeting California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Laboratory Field Services academic requirements.
- Active California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) Licenses
- OR acceptable Limited California Licenses in specialty areas:
- Clinical Chemist Scientist License
- Clinical Cytogeneticist Scientist License
- Clinical Genetic Molecular Biologist Scientist License
- Clinical Hematologist Scientist License
- Clinical Histocompatibility Scientist License
- Clinical Immunohematologist Scientist License
- Clinical Microbiologist Scientist License

The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates who meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates who exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
