The Allied Health School (AHS) CLS Educator is responsible for the development and implementation of curriculum designed to prepare students for successful careers in various allied health fields. This role involves the development of educational programs that account for diverse learning styles aligned with student demographics and learning methods, revising the curriculum to align with current industry standards, ensuring that the course curriculum aligns with accreditation standards, and ensuring academic excellence and professional readiness in the dynamic healthcare landscape. The AHS Educator is responsible for ensuring the delivery and teaching of the material as well as maintaining administrative components of education system including grading, reviewing polices and creating testing standards.

Responsibilities:

• Formulates and revises orientation manuals, course materials, lectures, and tests to ensure curriculum incorporates evidence based practices and meets accreditation and standards as well as medical center expectations. Implements and reviews program policies and procedures in collaboration and partnership with the AHS Program Director. Participates in quality assurance and improvement efforts with the AHS Program Director.
• Develops and teaches introductory and core courses with back up of AHS Program Director in their area of specialization. Responsible for developing courses for online instruction and multiple technologies while supporting a diverse population of learning needs. Develops learning modules, hands on activities, assessments and multimedia content that address various learning styles (visual, auditory, kinesthetic, etc.). Continually assesses the effectiveness of instructional methods and adjusts after collaboration as needed.
• Advises and teaches students, leads lab skill demonstrations, practice and testing of students. Provides guidance and support to students to ensure they meet learning objectives and are prepared for professional certification.
• In collaboration with the AHS Program Director, is responsible for the planning and oversight of student clinical rotations across CSMC affiliate locations and periodically evaluates the quality, contribution and appropriateness of all clinical preceptors participating in clinical instruction. Directs and advises students on developing research and advancing knowledge in their field of specialty through in-person teaching and training. Maintains ongoing communication with medical center staff as to clinical schedules and status of student experience.
• Serves on educational committees and participates in the broader development of the AHS and disciplinary committees.
• Responsible for the organization, administration, review, and maintenance of performance and educational records on all students within the AHS clinical program.
• In collaboration with the AHS Program Director, assists with recruiting new students, screening applications, interviewing potential students for the training program and providing input on candidates.
• Performs other education or technical related duties as assigned by the AHS Program Director or the clinical or technical department leadership team.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's Degree Biological Science, Chemistry, Medical Technology, or related science - minimum

Experience

• 5 years Relevant clinical experience with at least 1 year in the area of specialty. - minimum

Licenses and Certifications

• Clinical Laboratory Scientist - Upon Hire minimum A valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license or limited license appropriate for the area of responsibility
• Histo Certificate (ASCP) - Upon Hire preferred ASCP Board of Registry certification as a Medical Technologist, or certification in appropriate specialty
• Allied Health Instructor (AHI) - Upon Hire preferred Certified by American Medical Technologist as an Allied Health Instructor (AHI)
