The Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) provides comprehensive laboratory testing and specimen collection services to support patient care within the Billings Area Indian Health Service (BAIHS). The role involves performing diagnostic testing, analyzing results, and ensuring compliance with federal and clinical standards.

Monday Friday
7:00 AM 7:00 PM (coverage window; shifts assigned by supervisor)
Closed on federal holidays
=' Key Responsibilities
Perform laboratory testing across multiple disciplines:
Clinical chemistry
Hematology & coagulation
Microbiology
Blood bank & serology
Urinalysis & molecular testing
Collect specimens via venipuncture, capillary, and arterial methods
Prepare and process samples (blood, urine, stool, etc.)
Operate laboratory equipment (analyzers, microscopes, centrifuges)
Review, verify, and report patient test results
Perform quality control, calibration, and maintenance of lab equipment
Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with lab standards
Interact with diverse patient populations (newborn to elderly)
< Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field
Certification meeting CLIA requirements (e.g., ASCP or equivalent)
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
= Experience Required
Experience as Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Lab Technician II/III
Proficiency across multiple lab disciplines required

Attention to detail and accuracy in testing/reporting
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Proficiency with laboratory equipment and systems
Strong communication and patient interaction skills
