Clinical Laboratory Technician
Job Description
This Clinical Laboratory Technician role supports a Central Clinical Laboratory and Clinical Specialty Laboratory that delivers a high volume of both automated and manual clinical testing. The position focuses on operating automated analyzers, processing a variety of specimen types, and performing additional workups such as dilutions to support accurate diagnostic results. The laboratory provides testing in general chemistry, immunoassay, coagulation, hematology, renal and cardiovascular markers, and plays a key role in aiding diagnosis and treatment for patients in both inpatient and emergency settings. Work Environment
The role is based in a high-volume Central Clinical Laboratory and Clinical Specialty Laboratory that performs approximately 5.5 million tests annually, including more than 470,000 renal function and urinalysis tests. The lab supports both emergency department and routine testing, with more than half of its workload dedicated to urgent and routine hospital needs. Team members work with a blend of highly automated systems and manual testing platforms, using advanced technologies such as mass spectrometry, nuclear magnetic resonance, ELISA, chromatography systems, flow cytometry, spectroscopy, combustion, electrophoresis, ultracentrifugation, and automatic chemistry analyzers. The schedule follows a two-week rotation that includes both overnight and day shifts. In Week 1, the schedule includes Monday and Tuesday overnight shifts from 8:00 pm to 6:30 am, followed by dayshift on Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm. In Week 2, the schedule includes overnight shifts from Tuesday through Friday from 8:00 pm to 6:30 am. Weekend start times for day shifts may be adjusted between 6:00 am and 8:00 am, with the expectation that the chosen start time remains consistent. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $24.00/hr.
