About the Role
As a Blood Bank Technologist, you will perform complex testing procedures related to blood compatibility and transfusion support. The ideal candidate thrives in a detail-oriented environment and is committed to maintaining the highest standards of accuracy, quality, and patient safety.
Responsibilities
Perform immunohematology testing, including blood typing, antibody screening, and compatibility testing
Evaluate and interpret serologic results to support transfusion decisions
Prepare, label, and issue blood products according to established guidelines
Assist with the investigation of transfusion-related events and discrepancies
Monitor quality control data and participate in quality improvement initiatives
Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation
Operate, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory analyzers and equipment
Follow regulatory, accreditation, and safety requirements at all times
Work collaboratively with laboratory staff and clinical teams to ensure timely patient care
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or related scientific discipline
New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist License required
Previous blood bank or transfusion medicine experience preferred
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities
