Job Description / Summary
We are seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technologist to perform a broad range of clinical laboratory testing during the night shift. This position supports multiple areas of the laboratory, including Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, and Blood Bank, while ensuring accurate and timely patient results.
The ideal candidate will have strong generalist laboratory skills, experience with automated instrumentation, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced clinical laboratory environment.
Responsibilities
Perform routine and specialized laboratory testing across multiple disciplines, including Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, and Blood Bank.
Process, analyze, and evaluate patient specimens according to established laboratory procedures.
Review, verify, and accurately report laboratory results.
Recognize abnormal, critical, or questionable results and follow appropriate laboratory procedures.
Perform blood bank testing, including ABO/Rh typing, antibody screening, compatibility testing, and preparation of blood products, as assigned.
Perform hematology testing, including CBCs, differentials, and other routine hematologic procedures.
Perform routine chemistry, coagulation, and urinalysis testing using automated and manual methodologies.
Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation.
Perform and document quality control and take appropriate corrective action when results fall outside established parameters.
Maintain proper specimen identification, handling, processing, and documentation.
Follow established laboratory SOPs, quality assurance practices, and safety requirements.
Participate in proficiency testing, competency assessments, and continuing education.
Communicate critical results and other relevant laboratory information to appropriate clinical personnel.
Assist with additional laboratory responsibilities as needed during the night shift.
Qualifications / Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related qualifying field required.
Current New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist license/registration required, or appropriate eligibility to practice under applicable NYS requirements.
Clinical laboratory experience as a Generalist preferred.
