Location: Fort Myers, FL
Shift: Day Shift Tuesday Saturday, 5x8-hour shifts OR Wednesday Saturday, 4x10-hour shifts.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technologist specializing in FISH (Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization) to perform complex, high-complexity laboratory testing within a Pharma Services environment. This position is responsible for processing and analyzing clinical specimens, performing FISH testing according to established procedures, reviewing results, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring accurate documentation.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cytogenetics/FISH testing, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while maintaining regulatory and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex and high-complexity clinical laboratory testing within the FISH specialty.
• Perform FISH testing and analysis according to established laboratory procedures and SOPs.
• Receive, evaluate, prepare, and process clinical specimens for testing.
• Determine specimen acceptability and identify specimen-related issues before testing.
• Analyze specimens using approved testing methodologies and established criteria.
• Exercise independent judgment when performing testing and evaluating laboratory results.
• Review and release test results according to established procedures.
• Maintain accurate and complete documentation of testing, results, and laboratory activities.
• Perform and document quality control (QC) for reagents, assays, instrumentation, and testing processes.
• Recognize QC failures or testing deviations and assist with troubleshooting and corrective actions.
• Document corrective actions when test systems fall outside established performance specifications.
• Prepare stock solutions, reagents, probes/cocktails, and other laboratory materials according to SOPs.
• Evaluate prepared reagents and materials against established quality criteria.
• Participate in proficiency testing and ensure samples are handled in the same manner as clinical specimens.
• Follow applicable laboratory safety, quality, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
• Collaborate with supervisors, lead technologists, and other laboratory personnel to resolve technical or testing issues.

Qualifications & Requirements

• CG(ASCP) certification required.
• Current Florida Clinical Laboratory Technologist license appropriate for the testing performed.
• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science may be considered with appropriate laboratory training and experience.
• 1+ year of high-complexity laboratory testing experience preferred.
• Experience with FISH and/or cytogenetics testing strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of specimen preparation, testing procedures, quality control, troubleshooting, and laboratory documentation.
• Ability to follow detailed SOPs while exercising appropriate independent judgment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate, high-quality laboratory testing.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume, and multi-tasking laboratory environment.
