We are seeking an experienced Clinical Manager to join our leadership team, support our providers and staff, and help continue building a culture centered on quality care, operational excellence, and professional growth.
Position Summary
The Clinical Manager oversees the daily clinical, operational, and administrative functions of a busy orthopedic and sports medicine practice. This role serves as the primary liaison between providers, clinical staff, and patients to ensure efficient workflows, exceptional patient experiences, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.
The ideal candidate will have strong healthcare leadership experience, orthopedic or surgical practice experience, and working knowledge of surgery scheduling, insurance authorizations, and pre‑ and post‑operative patient care coordination.
Essential Responsibilities
Clinical Operations & Patient Care
- Manage daily clinic flow and ensure timely, high‑quality patient care.
- Coordinate care between providers, imaging, physical therapy, surgery scheduling, and external facilities.
- Address patient concerns and support a positive patient experience.
- Evaluate workflows and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and outcomes.
Staff Leadership & Development
- Recruit, onboard, train, and mentor clinical staff.
- Develop staffing schedules and ensure adequate coverage.
- Conduct performance evaluations and support professional development.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Lead staff meetings, huddles, and educational initiatives.
Compliance & Administration
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, infection control standards, and applicable regulations.
- Maintain policies, procedures, and workflow documentation.
- Monitor chart accuracy and documentation quality.
- Oversee inventory, supplies, bracing, and clinical equipment.
- Support audit and accreditation readiness.
Strategic & Financial Management
- Assist with budgeting, resource allocation, and cost‑control efforts.
- Track KPIs such as patient volume, provider productivity, surgery conversion rates, and authorization turnaround times.
- Analyze operational data and recommend improvements.
- Partner with providers and leadership to support clinic growth.
Preferred Experience: Surgery Scheduling & Insurance Authorizations
While these are not primary duties, experience in surgery scheduling and insurance authorizations is highly valued. The Clinical Manager will support and oversee related processes as needed.
Preferred experience includes:
- Surgical scheduling and orthopedic procedure coordination.
- Insurance authorizations for surgery, imaging, injections, DME, and specialty procedures.
- Communicating with payers regarding approvals, denials, and appeals.
- Understanding documentation requirements for authorization support.
- Collaborating with surgery centers, hospitals, and ancillary departments.
- Identifying workflow improvements that enhance efficiency and patient experience.
Training is available for candidates with strong leadership and operational skills who are eager to learn.

OUR FACILITY
The Surgery Center of Fairbanks opened on November 20, 2010. Since then, the facility has treated thousands of Interior Alaska residents with a wide range of health conditions. We specialize in outpatient surgery, where surgical procedures are performed and patients are allowed to go home the same day. We are the only free-standing fully dedicated outpatient surgical facility in the Fairbanks area. We specialize in patient care using modern technology and digital electronic interfaces. We create an environment where the patient is our number one priority. We are owned and operated by Alaskans and we are your neighbors and friends. We understand the issues that face all Alaskans when they need surgery and we are proud to play a role if they require our services.
The Surgery Center of Fairbanks works with all health government programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, Denali Kidcare, TriCare, and the Veterans Administration. We accept all private insurance carriers and we guarantee to work with any patient to minimize the financial strain that some surgical procedures may require.
Most surgical specialties are performed at our facility: urology, orthopedics, ophthalmology, neurosurgery, general surgery, ear nose and throat, podiatry, gynecology, chronic pain procedures, and gastroenterology. We have a fully dedicated pediatric procedure room for children to make their experience easier.
