Functions within the nursing care guidelines established by the Director of each unit/department, and Frisbie Memorial Hospital, and is directly accountable to the Director for the actions and results achieved.
In collaboration with the Director, assists in the management of daily operations of the department. Develops, plans, and implements quality assurance and educational programs to address identified needs.
Performs within the scope of RN practice as outlined in the standards manual and by applicable regulatory and professional ethics/guidelines, standards, protocols and procedures. Collaborates with leadership teams to deliver quality care and excellent customer services for the service line.
Collaborates with the Director to address the special needs of the departments staff and patients and problems/incidents of a management or administrative nature.
Patient Population Served :
The Clinical Nurse Coordinator will demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on the physical ability, intellectual development, psychosocial, educational and safety needs of the patient population cared for in the given unit/department.
Essential Position Functions :
Participates on appropriate committees and departmental meetings. Assists in the formation and accomplishment of unit/department goals and objectives.
Accepts primary nurse role for the assigned patients as needed, and charge nurse while on duty. Acts as a resource for staff.
Delegates duties to professional and non-professional nursing personnel based upon patient needs, available staff, and total unit/department needs.
Coordinates and evaluates nursing activities directly and indirectly related to patient care.
Reviews nursing documentation for accuracy and adequate recording of patient's condition and plan of care, nursing interventions and discharge needs as appropriate.
Develops and maintains appropriate records and reports which reflect the activities of the unit/department.
Collaborates with the Director in 90 day evaluations, mid-year and annual performance evaluations of staff.
In coordination with the Director, supervises and motivates staff, participates in interviews, training, development and discipline of staff according to organization and department policies and processes.
May conduct payroll approval for unit staff.
Coordinates educational activities to address the education and training needs of staff.
Develops, implements and maintains orientation program and oversees the delivery of education to the staff.
Participates in the development and implementation of the departmental operating plan, achieving quality and patient satisfaction outcome goals and financial stability.
Pursues activities that will promote professional growth and development of self and contribute to the objectives of the unit/department and division.
Develops, implements and maintains competencies for the unit/department to demonstrate staff competency and compliance.
Super user for the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) that is utilized on the unit/department.
Completes variances at the direction of the Director.
Assists the Director with annual budget.
Assists Director with researching any narcotic discrepancies.
Non-Essential Position Functions :
Performs other duties as assigned or as judgment or necessity dictate.
Registered Nurse from an accredited school of nursing with a current, valid license in the State of New Hampshire or Compact State
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
5 or more years' clinical experience.
Prior supervisory or leadership experience strongly preferred.
Advanced preparation in clinical specialty or management is desirable.
Must possess a broad understanding of both theory and clinical practice.
Ability to prioritize work and work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to set priorities, exercise initiative and judgement and make decisions within scope of assigned authority.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to a diverse audience.
Demonstrated teaching ability required
Ability to handle stressful situations and to manage multiple priorities.
