The Nursing Professional Development Practitioner at Mease Countryside Hospital's Intensive Care Unit (ICU) assesses, develops, implements, and leads educational activities designed to grow, maintain, and improve the professional competence of clinical Team Members, creates and oversees assigned clinical programs by completing needs assessments.
Positions details:
Location: Mease Dunedin Hospital- ICU
Status: Full Time - Exempt from Overtime
Shift: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM - can vary
Occasional weekend requirement
On Call: No
Always in person
Requirements:
RN (Registered Nurse) License
Bachelor's or Higher degree in Nursing
3-years' RN experience in an Acute Care setting
Preferred: Experience supporting education in a Neuro ICU setting
Preferred: Nursing Professional Development Certification (ANPD)
BLS certification with the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
ACLS certification with the American Heart Association
The Nursing Professional Development Specialist responsibilities and skills:
Assess, develop, and lead educational programs that strengthen clinical competence and professional growth for ICU team members
Design and oversee unit‑specific education based on identified learning needs and quality initiatives
Support clinical orientation and ongoing education for new and existing ICU nurses
Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for evidence‑based practice and clinical education
Partner with clinical leaders and interdisciplinary teams to support quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
Provide consultation and guidance on education requirements, competencies, and available learning resources
Act as a positive change agent by supporting practice improvement, communication, and engagement
Perform Registered Nurse functions and other duties as assigned, as needed
This role follows the Association for Nursing Professional Development (ANPD) Scope and Standards of Practice and promotes clinical excellence through evidence‑based care.
