Work Schedule:

This is a part-time role; candidates must perform their work in Washington and be available during agreed-upon hours. Hours worked will be no more than 20 hours per week. There may be opportunities to travel across Washington to various study sites for hands-on data collection, conferences, or research team meetings.


This is a grant-funded position that is currently funded for one year. Continued employment is contingent upon grant funding and not guaranteed.


General Description:

The Research Coordinator supports the planning, implementation, and management of research projects and studies. This role serves as a central point of contact for research activities, ensuring projects are conducted in compliance with regulatory requirements, institutional policies, and ethical standards. Reports to Gordon West, Associate Professor of Nursing.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate day-to-day operations of research studies, including scheduling, data collection, and follow-up.
  • Maintain accurate and complete research records, databases, and documentation in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Assist principal investigators and research teams in preparing study protocols, consent forms, and IRB/ethics board submissions.
  • Monitor study timelines, budgets, and milestones, escalating issues as needed.
  • Liaise with internal departments, external partners, sponsors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations governing research.
  • Prepare and distribute progress reports, meeting agendas, and study-related communications.
  • Assist with data analysis, literature reviews, and manuscript or grant preparation.
  • Act as the liaison between the Principal Investigator, the research team, research consultants, research site personnel, and other parties as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Principal Investigator regarding study supplies and equipment.
  • Responsible for learning the ordering process, ordering supplies, monitoring supplies to ensure all supplies ordered do not expire prior to data collection, and track purchases within University level systems and for grant agency reporting.
  • Responsible for working with research team and coordinating travel arrangements within University and military systems to include managing booking of airfare, hotel, and rental cars and assisting team with any paperwork needed for other costs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Proficiency in data management tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in a relevant field (e.g., life sciences, public health, social sciences).
  • At least 1 year of experience in a research or clinical setting.
  • Familiarity with IRB processes, GCP (Good Clinical Practice), and regulatory compliance.
  • Finalist applicants must satisfactorily complete pre-employment background checks.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree.
  • Knowledge of grant funding processes and sponsor reporting requirements.
  • Certifications such as CCRP (Certified Clinical Research Professional) or ACRP
  • credentials.
