Title: Clinical Operations Manager

Location: Folsom & Roseville, CA - relocation assistance will be considered (in person)

Position Overview

Complete Spine Care is a high-performance spine surgery practice in Folsom and Roseville, California, and we are looking for a Clinical Operations Manager who can run the business and help the practice’s growth plans.
You will own staff performance, culture accountability, revenue cycle oversight, surgery scheduling integrity, and day-to-day operations.  You will report directly to the physician-owner and make decisions independently.
We are a small, fast-moving private practice preparing for strategic growth. The right person has run a private specialty medical practice before, has real HR experience, and thrives without a safety net above them. If your background is in large health systems or academic medicine, this will not be the right fit.

Key Responsibilities

What You Will Own

You will be accountable for the full operational picture of the practice — not a department, not a function, the whole thing.

That means staff performance and culture enforcement, hiring, onboarding and training, scheduling integrity, revenue cycle oversight, vendor relationships, compliance, and facilities. You will build systems and SOPs where they don't exist, fix ones that aren't working, and protect the ones that are.

You will hold people accountable to our standards without the physician in the room. You will identify problems before they escalate.

Specific role-ownership includes:

  • People — hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, PIPs, terminations, and day-to-day culture accountability across the full team
  • Operations — workflows, scheduling, staffing models, payroll oversight, and facilities management
  • Revenue cycle — front-end accuracy, authorization follow-through, and coordination with billing to protect cash flow
  • Compliance — HIPAA, California employment law, and applicable healthcare regulations
  • Reporting — KPIs, productivity benchmarks, and operational metrics reported directly to the physician-owner
  • Growth — as the practice scales, you help build the infrastructure that supports it
Qualifications
Non-negotiable:

  • Private practice experience, specifically. You must have run operations in an independent medical or group private practice where you were accountable for outcomes with no institutional safety net above you.
  • Real HR experience. You have personally terminated employees, managed performance improvement plans, had difficult culture conversations, and held the line on standards — without a physician backing you up in the room.
  • Surgical or procedural specialty background. You understand the rhythm of a surgical practice — OR scheduling, prior authorizations, case flow. You don't need to be clinical, but you need to speak the language.
  • Independent operator. You make decisions. You solve problems before they reach the physician-owner. You do not need daily direction to function.
  • Values-aligned leadership. You know how to hold people to high standards while keeping them engaged and proud to be on the team.
Strongly preferred:

  • 5+ years of progressive medical practice operations experience across multiple locations, with increasing accountability over time
  • Familiarity with worker’s compensation, personal injury and lien-based case workflows
  • Working knowledge of revenue cycle management and insurance authorization processes
  • Experience with practice management and EHR platforms such as Athena, Epic or similar
  • Comfortable building and maintaining reporting tools — spreadsheets, KPI dashboards, operational trackers
  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field

Compensation & Benefits
* Competitive salary: Up to $150,000 annually, plus performance-based bonus opportunities
* Full-time salaried position with health and retirement benefits
* Expected schedule: 40+ hours per week
* Opportunities for professional growth and advancement within the organization
