We are seeking a Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Certified Educator to support and oversee accredited CPE programs within a healthcare environment. This role is responsible for maintaining ACPE accreditation standards, supervising and educating CPE students, and promoting an interdisciplinary approach to spiritual care delivery.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable facilitating both classroom-based education and experiential learning opportunities while providing mentorship and clinical supervision to students in a healthcare setting. This position offers a blend of virtual and onsite responsibilities, though onsite availability is strongly preferred.
Facilitate classroom education sessions in both virtual and onsite formats
Coordinate and oversee student visits and participation, including virtual interactions as appropriate
Provide direct supervision, mentorship, and guidance to CPE students
Develop and implement student-centered learning curriculum and experiential training opportunities
Support student orientation and ongoing educational development in accordance with departmental and ACPE standards
Recruit, interview, and select candidates for CPE internships and supervisory education programs
Maintain ACPE accreditation standards and ensure ongoing compliance
Review, update, and develop CPE program policies and student handbooks
Prepare and maintain accreditation materials and documentation
Assist with ACPE accreditation reviews and advisory group meetings
Promote standards of excellence within the CPE program
Support an interdisciplinary approach to spiritual care services
Participate in team meetings, leadership discussions, and interdisciplinary rounds
Provide timely feedback, coaching, and corrective guidance to students when needed
Encourage professional growth and continuing education within chaplaincy and CPE organizations
Approximately 25%–50% classroom facilitation and educational instruction
Approximately 50%–75% experiential and clinical training support
Master’s degree in Theology, Divinity, or related theological field from an accredited seminary
Certified Educator certification through the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE)
Minimum 1–2 years of experience providing spiritual care in an acute care or similar healthcare setting
Strong understanding of theological, spiritual, and psychological dynamics, including existential distress, meaning-making, and spiritual rituals
Ordination, endorsement, or commissioning by a recognized faith tradition or denomination
Board Certified Chaplain certification or certification eligibility through the Association of Professional Chaplains
Ability to maintain ACPE Educator certification
National Faculty designation through ACPE
Prior experience mentoring or supervising CPE students
Experience working within large healthcare systems or multi-campus environments
Previous accreditation review or program administration experience
Candidates must be willing to travel between Fargo-area campuses as needed
Onsite presence is strongly preferred
