Position Title: Pharmacist I

Location: Shelby Township, MI 48315
Duration: 12 Months (Extension Possible)
Schedule: Monday Friday | 8:30 AM 5:00 PM (Occasional 9:30 AM 6:00 PM shifts, once or twice per week)

Pay Range: $50.00/hour - $60/hour

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Pharmacist I to support a closed-door specialty pharmacy focused on manufacturer-sponsored free drug programs, primarily serving patients with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). This role is responsible for reviewing prescription orders, verifying patient eligibility, providing patient counseling, and ensuring timely and accurate medication fulfillment while maintaining regulatory and quality standards.

This position offers an opportunity to work in a collaborative, non-retail pharmacy environment with minimal in-person patient interaction and a strong focus on patient care and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review prescription orders using a comprehensive 16-point verification process to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Verify prescription information, patient eligibility, and shipping details for manufacturer-sponsored free drug programs.
  • Process and verify medication orders to ensure timely fulfillment and shipment.
  • Provide patient counseling and answer inquiries regarding medications, shipping delays, product stability, and therapy-related questions.
  • Handle prescription transfers, clarification requests, and communication with healthcare providers as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with state pharmacy regulations, company policies, and quality standards.
  • Accurately document pharmacy activities and maintain required records.
  • Meet daily productivity and quality metrics while ensuring all scheduled orders are processed and shipped on time.
  • Collaborate with pharmacy staff and cross-functional teams to support operational goals.
  • Assist with software transition and training initiatives as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) required.

Licensure

  • Current and active Pharmacist license in the applicable state.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of pharmacist experience.
  • Experience in retail pharmacy and/or mail-order pharmacy is required.
  • Strong clinical knowledge and medication review experience.
  • Excellent communication and patient counseling skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Specialty pharmacy experience.
  • Clinical knowledge of Multiple Sclerosis therapies.
  • Experience with ScriptMed pharmacy software.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for multi-state pharmacy dispensing.
