Play a pivotal role in delivering high-stakes, real-time clinical care across an entire academic medical center during overnight hours. This is a rare opportunity to function as the central clinical pharmacist in a Level 1 Trauma Center, where your expertise directly informs critical decisions and patient outcomes when it matters most.
As a Clinical Pharmacist in Inpatient Acute Care Services, you will practice at the top of your license, balancing independent clinical judgment with collaborative, team-based care. This role offers exceptional breadth of exposure across patient populations and specialties, making it an ideal environment for accelerated clinical growth and autonomy.
The Role
In this overnight position, you serve as the primary clinical pharmacy resource for the hospital, working independently while supporting a multidisciplinary care team. The pace is dynamic and unpredictable, requiring strong prioritization, clinical judgment, and adaptability as you move between verification workflows and bedside emergencies.
On a typical shift, you will:
Lead hospital-wide medication order verification in Epic, ensuring accuracy and safety across all inpatient units
Respond to codes and emergency situations at the bedside, delivering immediate pharmacotherapeutic expertise
Provide real-time clinical consultation to nursing staff and providers across a wide range of specialties
Function as the sole primary clinical pharmacist overnight, managing competing priorities and high-acuity cases
Partner closely with:
Operational pharmacists
Emergency Department pharmacist
Nursing and provider teams hospital-wide
Balance workflows between:
Medication verification queues
Urgent clinical interventions and bedside care
This role offers broad exposure across adult patient populations, with frequent involvement in critical care and limited pediatric engagement (primarily during emergency/code situations). The 7 on 7 off schedule supports continuity and deep engagement during working weeks, followed by meaningful time off.
