The lead clinical pharmacist on the IDS team is responsible for evaluating patient treatment plans and verifying/dispensing orders in compliance with the clinical trial protocol. Role Purpose
Assess, monitor, initiate, and modify medication use according to patient condition and age specific criteria. Serves as a liaison between the pharmacy department and other health care practitioners in matters related to specialized area of pharmacy practice. Supervises and directs supportive personnel. Counsels and educates to promote optimal drug therapy. Directs and assists in the procurement, storage, distribution and disposal of medications.
Responsibilities
Evaluates medication orders for appropriateness with regard to patient condition, organ function and concomitant therapies to promote optimal patient outcomes. Documents all activities and communication as appropriate.Directs and manages workflow in focused area of pharmacy practice. Activities include oversight of pharmacists, technicians, interns and volunteers ensuring the accuracy of their work in accordance with departmental procedures and Federal and State regulations.Participates in the delivery of educational programs within and outside of the pharmacy department. Serves on committees at the health service organization.Serves as a lead on the development, review, and implementation of policies and procedures.Provides advanced level support to the professional, operational, and patient care aspects of the pharmacy department. Identifies and implements improvements to the medication use process.
