    What We're Looking For:

    Clinical Physician Executive – Critical Care & Pulmonary Services

    Novant Health is seeking a Clinical Physician Executive, Critical Care & Pulmonary Services to provide strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for critical care and inpatient/outpatient pulmonary programs across the Triad Region. This physician leader will partner with executive and clinical leadership to advance quality outcomes, support program growth, drive operational excellence, and ensure exceptional patient care delivery across multiple hospital settings.

    The Clinical Physician Executive will play a key role in developing and executing regional strategy, fostering physician engagement, leading quality and safety initiatives, and supporting the continued growth and advancement of critical care and pulmonary services.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide clinical and operational leadership for critical care and pulmonary services across the Triad Region
    • Partner with system and regional leadership to develop and execute strategic plans, operational priorities, and growth initiatives
    • Lead efforts to improve quality, patient safety, patient experience, and clinical outcomes
    • Support the development and implementation of evidence-based best practices and standardized care models
    • Collaborate with physicians, nursing, pharmacy, and administrative leaders to optimize care delivery and care transitions
    • Drive operational excellence, resource utilization, and performance improvement initiatives
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization
    • Support physician recruitment, retention, engagement, and professional development
    • Lead regional provider meetings and foster collaboration among critical care and pulmonary teams
    • Champion Novant Health's mission, values, diversity, inclusion, and culture of belonging

    Position Structure

    The Clinical Physician Executive role combines clinical practice and leadership responsibilities. 

    Required Education, Training & Certification:

    MD or DO from an accredited medical school

    Fellowship training in:

    • Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine, or
    • Internal Medicine/Critical Care Medicine

    Board Certified in:

    • Critical Care Medicine (CCM) and/or Pulmonary Medicine

    Required Experience

    • 5+ years of ICU Medical Director experience
    • Demonstrated involvement in quality and patient safety initiatives
    • Experience leading multidisciplinary critical care teams
    • Committee leadership experience
    • Experience with throughput and capacity management initiatives
    • Sepsis program involvement or oversight
    • Experience developing and implementing care models or clinical strategy initiatives

    Preferred Experience

    • ECMO experience or exposure
    • Cardiac Critical Care experience
    • Advanced bronchoscopy experience
    • Tele-ICU experience
    • Clinical research involvement
    • Outpatient pulmonary practice experience
    • Advanced degree such as MBA, MHA, or MPH
