Job Summary:
Join our team in Binghamton, NY, where you will perform and manage polysomnographic diagnostic testing. This role requires a solid understanding of anatomy and physiology in relation to sleep/wake pathology. Excellent communication skills are essential for patient education, safety, and comfort, as well as for discussing clinical situations with physicians. Attention to detail is critical, as the quality of data from the polysomnogram is the technologist's responsibility. You must maintain vigilance in a non-stimulating environment, assimilate data from various sources, and anticipate care initiation according to protocols.
Job Responsibilities:
- Review patient information and verify study orders.
- Explain setup and testing protocols to patients/caregivers.
- Set up patients and perform studies per policy/AASM guidelines.
- Monitor patients for clinical events and take appropriate actions.
- Perform Titration and Split night studies as per policy or physician orders.
- Wake patients when data collection is complete and assist with hygiene as needed.
- Score studies according to AASM guidelines and complete on time.
- Notify relevant medical staff of any adverse changes or unusual situations.
- Assist in training new personnel and perform other assigned duties.
Skills:
