Job Title: Clinical Preceptor for Radiologic Sciences Program

Reports to: Clinical Coordinator

Job Summary:

The Clinical Preceptor for the Radiologic Sciences Program provides direct supervision, instruction, and evaluation of radiography students at assigned clinical affiliate sites. The role supports student learning through orientation, competency evaluations, image critique, feedback, and remediation while ensuring adherence to program standards and accreditation requirements. The Clinical Preceptor fosters student success by maintaining current knowledge of the radiologic sciences, modeling professionalism, and contributing to continuous program improvement.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct orientation of new students to the affiliate site
• Participate in clinical orientation (on-campus)
• Maintain a schedule of student assignments at affiliate site
• Evaluate students on radiographic procedures and document levels of competency
• Provide image critique sessions
• Evaluate student performance and provide remediation as needed
• Monitor student progress and regularly meet with students for feedback and evaluation
• Participate in program meetings, in-service training, and other departmental meetings, including accreditation activities
• Compile data and prepare periodic reports as directed by the clinical coordinator or program director
• Arrange and conduct supplementary clinical instructional activities
• Participate in the accreditation and assessment processes
• Maintain current knowledge of professional discipline and educational methodologies
• Continuous professional development
• Other duties, as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position will manage a group of 3rd year and 4th year radiologic sciences students at assigned affiliated clinical sites and clinical orientation workshops (prior to rotation placement) at the St. Vincent's Health Sciences Center.

Work Environment

The employees work environment will be their assigned clinical facility and the Queens main campus.

Physical Demands

• Standing, walking, and bending for extended periods of time.
• Lifting and moving patients, equipment, supplies as needed.
• Assisting students with patient care (e.g. transferring, positioning etc.)
• Demonstrating clinical skills and techniques.
• Visual acuity to observe student technique, radiographic image analysis, and provide safe patient care.
• Communicate effectively with students, patients, and members of the healthcare team.
• Ability to work in an ever-changing paced environment (e.g. Hospital, clinic, etc.)

Environmental Conditions

Clinical facilities can expose employees to various occupational hazards that can significantly impact their health and safety. These hazards include exposure to infectious diseases, workplace violence, and ergonomic risks associated with manual patient handling and repetitive tasks.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

8 hours per week divided across 1 or 2 days as needed per semester.

Travel

Employees are required to have their own method of transportation to and from their assigned clinical site and to campus as needed.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree (at minimum)
• Current ARRT certification and registration in Radiography
• Current New York State Department of Health license and registration as a Radiologic Technologist
• Minimum of two years' clinical experience in professional discipline
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication, time management, and analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience educating students in the clinical setting
• One year experience as a clinical preceptor or instructor in a JRCERT accredited program
• Current ARRT certification and registration in advanced modality
• Proficient in Microsoft 365 including Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly salary for this position is $91.00.
