    The Department of Family and Community Medicine provides high quality health care and educational experiences. Working as a team of healthcare providers and educators, we advance a unique model of patient care characterized by comprehensive and integrated care of the whole person over time, tailored to the individual's values and choices care of all ages, socio-economic statuses, ethnicity's, health statuses, and both genders Wellness and prevention relationships and collaborations based on active and open communication and trust wise and practical application of knowledge.

    Major/Essential Functions

    • Assesses patients by obtaining and reviewing health histories, assessing presenting illness and performing an appropriate physical examination;
    • Educates patients on wellness, illness prevention and disease management;
    • Prepares and completes timely and accurate documentation for medical records;
    • Participates in quality improvement, continuing education and patient care programs established by the department, clinic and/or hospital; and
    • Participates in the training and education of residents and medical students.

    Required Qualifications

    • MD, DO or Equivalent;
    • Completion of USMLE Step 3;
    • Completion of an ACGME Accredited Family Medicine Residency; and
    • ABMS Board Certified in Family Medicine.

    Visa Information

    TTUHSC, at its sole discretion, may initiate new H-1B I-129 visa petitions in accordance with the directive issued by Governor Abbott. Approval from the Texas Workforce Commission is required. On a limited, case-by-case basis, the institution may also sponsor eligible individuals for change-of-status or change-of-employer petitions for qualifying positions. TTUHSC will not pay the $100,000 fee, if applicable.
