Responsibilities:
- Maintains working relationships and functions as liaison with staff from USA IT Services, vendors and other technical support groups
- Oversees system-wide clinical application projects related to pharmacy services and overviews the interfaces of pharmacy systems integration with other hospital systems
- Participates in on-going training of pharmacy personnel on Clinical Applications
- Identifies and troubleshoots problem areas related to Clinical Applications in consultation with physicians nurses, technical staff and clinical service leaders
- Functions as liaison between IT Clinical Application services and each facility's administration, clinical department leaders, and staff
- Responsible for application support of Cerner Pharmacy system, including the interfacing of medications and other pharmacy clinical data to Cerner system and billing data to Cerner
- Provides analysis and testing on Cerner Pharmacy and equipment and software upgrades
- Coordinates upgrades and testing for other pharmacy related vendor applications
- Participates in review of pharmacy charges and billing processes to ensure proper interface with Cerner billing and Charge Description Master
- Responsible for review and build of medications for physician online order sets
- Participates in planning/installation of new pharmacy systems and interfaces as required
- Participates in performance improvement activities as required
- Utilizes a PC, audio-visual equipment, and other technology as required
- Communicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with physicians, staff, and vendors in person and via telephone
- Utilizes all available means to communicate changes, corrections, education and improvement of pharmacy related application to Clinical Staff
- Maintains an adequate electronic record of pharmacy related application documentation
- Accepts and completes all duties positively and without conflict
- Utilizes cost effective practices in performing all aspects of the job
- Maintains equipment and supplies necessary to complete essential job functions
- Abides by and enforces all compliance requirements and polices and performs these responsibilities in an ethical manner consistent with the organization's values
- Adheres to policies pertaining to confidentiality
- Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements
- Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards
- Regular and prompt attendance
- Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required
- Related duties as assigned
Additional Information:
Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or directly related field from an accredited institution and 1 year of experience as a hospital pharmacy technician Required OR
- Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of experience as a certified pharmacy technician, 1 of which was in a hospital setting Required OR
- High School Diploma or equivalent and 8 years of related experience in Information Technology Required
- Current registry with the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician. Required
- National certification with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or NHA Preferred
- Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.
