Position: SME IV - Clinical Psychologist (Health Promotion and Behavior Change)

Location: Psychological Health Center of Excellence (PHCoE)

Work Environment: Hybrid / Telework Eligible (Routine and situational telework is authorized. Facility space restrictions may necessitate part-time or full-time telework.)

Clearance Required: TIER 2: Non-critical sensitive position (Must be able to obtain and maintain)

Status: Full-Time

Salary Range: $130,000 - $157,000

The SME IV - Clinical Psychologist (Health Promotion and Behavior Change) provides top-tier expertise in developing population-wide health promotion and behavior change initiatives. This role focuses on preventing mental health disorders and promoting psychological resilience across the military community through evidence-based messaging and self-management tools.

The Job Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide subject-matter expertise on the development of population-wide health promotion and behavior change initiatives that promote mental health and decrease risk factors.
  • Develop tools and messaging pointing military community members toward evidence-based self-management techniques that promote mental wellbeing.
  • Assess government services and resources promoting positive psychological functioning and identify trusted sources and best practices.
  • Tailor psychological health promotion and behavior change messaging to optimize impact across various communication channels.
  • Produce technical artifacts (e.g., reports, tools, briefings, presentations, and manuscripts) consistent with the PHCoE mission set.

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctorate (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical Psychology.
  • At least 13 years of full-time postdoctoral work experience directly related to the practice of clinical psychology.
  • At least 3 years of full-time postdoctoral work leading or providing substantial technical inputs to population-level public health efforts promoting positive mental health and encouraging behavior changes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with large-scale health communication campaigns.
  • Background in public health in addition to clinical psychology.
