Location: Burlingame, California (Onsite)

Role Overview

An opportunity is available for a Clinical Research Coordinator to support clinical and human factors research activities in a lab setting. This role will work with a team of multidisciplinary stakeholders to support planning and execution of research studies focused on evaluating novel health technologies, user experiences, and validation of digital health solutions. The ideal candidate will have experience coordinating human subjects research, managing study operations, and supporting human factors/usability studies. They will be comfortable collaborating with research scientists, engineers, designers, product teams, legal partners, vendors, and external collaborators to ensure successful study execution and generation of high-quality data that informs both scientific research and product development.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate clinical technology validation studies and human factors/usability research studies, leading operational planning and day-to-day execution.
• Serve as primary contact for research participants, vendors, and research leads. Coordinate studies from startup through close-out.
• Recruit, schedule, consent, and support participants throughout study activities.
• Manage data collection and processing, including qualitative and quantitative data from clinical, usability, and user experience research.
• Maintain research project databases, develop flow sheets, participant tracking systems, and study documentation.
• Conduct study sessions and support observation of participant interactions with digital health technologies, wearable devices, and prototype systems.
• Maintain research schedules, communicate study milestones, and provide status reporting to cross-functional teams.
• Assist research teams with Institutional Review Board (IRB) submissions, compliance management, and human subjects protections.
• Partner with Human Factors Researchers, UX Researchers, Clinical Scientists, Product Managers, Engineers, and Designers to support human-centered product development.
• Document user workflows, usability findings, participant feedback, and study outcomes to inform device and product improvements.
• Assist with assessment and implementation of new research processes to improve study setup, participant management, and operational efficiency.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelors degree or higher in Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Psychology, Cognitive Science, Public Health, Biomedical Engineering, Life Sciences, Clinical Research, or a related field involving human subjects research.
• 2+ years of experience coordinating clinical research, human factors research, usability studies, UX research, or related human subjects research in academic, healthcare, technology, medical device, or commercial settings.
• Strong understanding of the clinical research lifecycle and human-centered research methodologies.
• Knowledge of human subjects protections, informed consent, IRB processes, and ethical conduct of research.
• Experience recruiting participants, conducting study visits, collecting research data, and maintaining research documentation.
• Familiarity with qualitative and quantitative research methods, usability testing, user experience evaluation, and participant-centered research practices.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary stakeholders including Human Factors Researchers, UX Researchers, Research Scientists, Product Managers, Software Engineers, Designers, and Statisticians.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple studies and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting medical device, wearable technology, digital health, or consumer technology research.
• Familiarity with FDA Human Factors Engineering guidance and usability validation studies.
• Experience moderating usability sessions, conducting participant interviews, or collecting observational research data.
• Experience with research tools and platforms for participant management, data collection, and study tracking.
• Knowledge of user-centered design principles and product development processes.
