The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University''s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Division of General Medicine seeks a full-time Clinical Research Coordinator I (CRC I) to assist with COPD Gene research studies. Reporting to the Principal Investigator, this role will coordinate study activities, ensure compliance with protocols, and contribute to high-quality data collection and analysis. The CRC I will work closely with divisional leadership and external collaborators to advance research objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit subjects for cardiopulmonary studies.
  • Schedule subjects and prepare study materials for clinic visits.
  • Update databases and complete coordinator assisted surveys.
  • Contact/ track down participants that have been lost to follow up.
  • Perform clinic visits including conducting anthropometry measures, pulmonary function testing and interviews.
  • Make sure all study procedures are completed in the correct order and as per protocol, including spirometry and other procedures.
  • Check completeness of questionnaires and data entry.
  • File and organize the records for all currently active projects.
  • Create tables and spreadsheets to track visits and procedure completion.
  • Ensure all data has been entered and transmitted as appropriate (in addition to our local database and/or tracking spreadsheets).
  • Mail questionnaires and/or letters to participants when needed.
  • Transmit CT scans and other data reports on time.
  • Prepare results packets for each participant after clinic visits take place.
  • Make sure they are reviewed by the PI or designee and mailed out to participants and their doctor as per request.
  • Assist with currently active projects.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor''s degree or equivalent in education and experience required.
  • Initiative to take responsibility for recruitment/retention/follow-up of the COPD Gene cohort
  • Must possess a customer-service orientation, with strong telephone skills and the ability to interact and collaborate positively, constructively and effectively with multiple stakeholders.
  • Capacity to work semi-independently and successfully within teams in a deadline driven, multi-tasking environment.
  • Strong commitment to fostering inclusion and engagement.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including strong Excel skills.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new systems and programs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bi-lingual (Spanish and English)
  • At least two years of experience in a relevant clinical research field.
  • Familiarity with Columbia health and research systems.
  • Education in a scientific, health-related, or business administration program or experience with observational research or in laboratory settings.
  • Experience with electronic medical records and/or research data entry, including Epic, REDCap, Qualtrics, iLab, or OpenSpecimen.
  • Knowledge of clinical research systems and processes, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines, HIPAA, Columbia IRB and other institutional or federal regulatory and compliance activities.

Other Requirements

  • Medical clearance and participation in the medical surveillance program.

  • Contact with patients and/or human research participants.

  • Potential bloodborne pathogen exposure.

  • Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements.
