    Job Description

    • Review new patient records and screen patients for eligibility in participation of research protocol.
    • Interview patients for protocols and collects and appropriate data for recruitment purposes, determine patient commitment and obtains informed consent.
    • Educates patients about the research protocol, their roles in the protocols, and any other vital information.
    • Collects, organizes, catalogs, disseminates, and maintains appropriate files of current data.
    • Maintains weekly/monthly status reports on all patients.
    • Acts as a liaison between patients and physicians and serves as a resource for the patients.
    • Transcribes and resolves queries of data in case report forms (hardcopy or electronic) and prepares documents, under direction of project heads.
    • Adheres to legal, professional and ethical codes with respect to confidentiality and privacy. Assures that protocol requirements are achieved within Good Clinical Practices.
    • Schedules patients for appointments and visits. Assists with monitoring audits/visits for protocols.
    • May assist with disseminating research findings through professional presentations or peer-reviewed publications.
    • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

    HJF is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator I to perform clinical research and patient treatment in conjunction with one or more specified clinical research protocols.

    The Clinical Research Coordinator I provides assistance to the Principal Investigator and Study Team coordinating research activities. The coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and conducting baseline concussion assessments, follow-up assessments post injury, and assisting with the oversight and collection of head impact data for collegiate athletics teams and/or physical education courses (combatives, boxing). There may be additional opportunities to help with other lines of research (Lower Extremity Injury Prevention, Post-Traumatic Osteoarthritis) supported by the Orthopaedic Research Department at KACH.

    This position is located at Keller Army Community Hospital (KACH) in West Point, NY under PI Dr. Kenneth Cameron. This position will primarily support the research portfolio related to concussion and mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) at Keller Army Hospital and the United States Military Academy. However, there may be opportunities to also support the musculoskeletal injury research portfolio. The position is with the Military Traumatic Brain Injury Initiative (MTBI2). MTBI2 is a federal military traumatic brain injury (TBI) research program organized as a partnership between the Uniformed Services University and the National Institutes of Health. MTBI2 supports a wide range of research from pre-clinical models to investigational projects and clinical trials research on TBI and its comorbidities.
