Description
Job Title: Clinical Respiratory Therapist - Pulmonary Function Testing Reports To: Clinical Supervisor / Practice Manager Compensation: $25.00 per hour
Job Summary:
The Clinical Respiratory Therapist is responsible for performing diagnostic respiratory procedures including Body Plethysmography ("Body Box"), full Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs), and basic Spirometry in a clinical outpatient setting. This role supports accurate diagnosis, treatment, and management of pulmonary disorders under the direction of physicians and according to established clinical protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct complete Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs), including:
Spirometry (pre- and post-bronchodilator testing)
Lung volume measurements using Body Plethysmography
Diffusion capacity testing (DLCO)
Methacholine or exercise challenge testing (as required)
Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of testing equipment in compliance with ATS/ERS standards.
Prepare patients for testing by explaining procedures and verifying understanding.
Monitor patient safety and comfort throughout testing procedures.
Accurately record, interpret, and input test results into the EMR (electronic medical record) system.
Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff to discuss test findings when needed.
Maintain appropriate documentation and adhere to HIPAA compliance regarding patient information.
Assist in training staff or students as needed.
Perform quality assurance procedures and participate in continuing education to maintain licensure and clinical competence.
Compensation & Benefits:
Hourly Rate: $25.00 per hour
