Job Title: Clinical Respiratory Therapist - Pulmonary Function Testing Reports To: Clinical Supervisor / Practice Manager Compensation: $25.00 per hour Job Summary: The Clinical Respiratory Therapist is responsible for performing diagnostic respiratory procedures including Body Plethysmography ("Body Box"), full Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs), and basic Spirometry in a clinical outpatient setting. This role supports accurate diagnosis, treatment, and management of pulmonary disorders under the direction of physicians and according to established clinical protocols. Key Responsibilities: - Conduct complete Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs), including:
- Spirometry (pre- and post-bronchodilator testing)
- Lung volume measurements using Body Plethysmography
- Diffusion capacity testing (DLCO)
- Methacholine or exercise challenge testing (as required)
- Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of testing equipment in compliance with ATS/ERS standards.
- Prepare patients for testing by explaining procedures and verifying understanding.
- Monitor patient safety and comfort throughout testing procedures.
- Accurately record, interpret, and input test results into the EMR (electronic medical record) system.
- Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff to discuss test findings when needed.
- Maintain appropriate documentation and adhere to HIPAA compliance regarding patient information.
- Assist in training staff or students as needed.
- Perform quality assurance procedures and participate in continuing education to maintain licensure and clinical competence.
