About this role

Laramie County Behavioral Health Center is seeking a Clinical Social Worker to provide direct mental health services to adults and families in our Buford clinic. You will conduct individual therapy, facilitate group counseling, perform psychosocial assessments, and coordinate care for clients with depression, anxiety, trauma, and substance use disorders. This role serves rural Wyoming with limited mental health resources; you will work with an interdisciplinary team including psychiatry, primary care, and case management.


Key responsibilities

  • Provide individual psychotherapy using evidence-based modalities (CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing)
  • Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and develop individualized treatment plans with clear goals and outcomes
  • Facilitate group therapy and psychoeducational groups (depression management, substance use recovery, life skills)
  • Manage active caseload of 20–25 clients; maintain clinical documentation in EHR and ensure compliance with clinical standards
  • Conduct suicide and homicide risk assessments; initiate crisis protocols and safety planning
  • Coordinate care with primary care physicians, psychiatrists, and community resources; provide collateral information
  • Participate in clinical supervision and case consultation; contribute to team meetings and treatment planning
  • Maintain accurate progress notes, treatment plans, and clinical documentation per standards and timeframes


Required qualifications (non-negotiable)

  • Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE-accredited program
  • Active and unrestricted Wyoming social work license (LSW or LCSW); reciprocal licensure acceptable with ability to obtain Wyoming license within 30 days
  • Current CPR/BLS certification (American Heart Association or equivalent)
  • Minimum 1 year of direct clinical mental health experience post-MSW (internship experience counts)
  • Knowledge and demonstrated ability in evidence-based psychotherapy modalities (CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing)
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-based, integrated care setting


Preferred qualifications

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) credential
  • Experience working with rural or underserved populations
  • Experience with substance use disorders (SUDs) and co-occurring disorders
  • Trauma-informed care certification or advanced training
  • Experience with suicide risk assessment and crisis intervention
  • Familiarity with integrated behavioral health in primary care settings
  • Experience with culturally diverse populations and rural mental health disparities
  • Knowledge of community resources and social services available in Wyoming
