Position Summary

The Clinical Supervisor supports the day-to-day clinical operations of Skin Wellness Physicians by providing first-line leadership to clinical staff, coordinating staffing and workflow, reinforcing clinical standards, supporting training and competency development, and helping ensure a safe, efficient, patient-centered clinical environment.

This position reports to the Clinical Operations Manager and is designed to extend the Manager's ability to lead the clinical department. The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for daily execution and frontline supervision, while department-wide policy, formal performance decisions, compliance program ownership, budgeting, staffing strategy, and major operational decisions remain with the Clinical Operations Manager and executive leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Clinical Operations
·  Coordinate daily clinical staffing, assignments, room coverage, and same-day adjustments in response to call-outs or workflow needs.
·  Monitor patient flow, room utilization, clinical readiness, and provider support throughout the day.
·  Identify and address immediate workflow barriers and escalate recurring or systemic issues to the Clinical Operations Manager.
·  Help maintain consistent clinical operations across SWP locations.

Clinical Staff Supervision & Support
·  Provide direct day-to-day supervision, guidance, and support to medical assistants, nurses, and other assigned clinical staff.
·  Conduct routine coaching, reinforce performance expectations, and document concerns requiring management follow-up.
·  Support staff engagement, accountability, professionalism, and teamwork.
·  Serve as the first leadership contact for routine staff questions and immediate operational concerns.

Training & Competency
·  Coordinate onboarding and clinical orientation for new team members.
·  Support ongoing training, cross-training, and annual competency validation under standards established by the Clinical Operations Manager.
·  Observe clinical skills and workflow performance and identify opportunities for retraining or additional support.
·  Maintain accurate documentation of assigned training and competency activities.

Quality, Safety & Compliance Support
·  Reinforce adherence to established clinical policies, procedures, infection-control expectations, HIPAA, OSHA, and other applicable requirements.
·  Identify routine deviations from established standards, correct immediate concerns when appropriate, and escalate significant issues.
·  Participate in chart, workflow, documentation, and clinical-process audits as directed.
·  Support a culture of patient safety, clinical quality, and continuous improvement.

Provider & Patient Support
·  Support physicians, PAs, NPs, and clinical teams with immediate operational and workflow needs.
·  Assist in resolving routine patient-service concerns that arise within the clinical environment.
·  Escalate recurring provider workflow concerns, significant patient complaints, or issues with broader operational impact to the Clinical Operations Manager.
·  Promote consistent communication between providers, clinical staff, and management.

Clinical Readiness & Resources
·  Monitor exam-room readiness, clinical supply levels, medication and equipment needs, and routine clinical resource availability.
·  Coordinate routine supply replenishment and equipment-service needs within established processes.
·  Notify the Clinical Operations Manager of significant supply, equipment, vendor, or budget concerns.

Role Boundaries & Escalation

The Clinical Supervisor is a frontline leadership role and does not function as a second Clinical Operations Manager. The Supervisor is expected to resolve routine daily matters independently within established policies and to escalate issues involving formal corrective action, termination, compensation, department-wide policy, budget, staffing models, regulatory investigations, significant compliance concerns, or major provider/operational changes.

Qualifications

The following qualifications are proposed for this Clinical Supervisor posting. They are not taken directly from the existing Clinical Operations Manager job description and may be adjusted by SWP before posting.

·  Prior experience working in a medical practice or ambulatory clinical setting required.
·  Dermatology experience strongly preferred.
·  Previous lead, trainer, or supervisory experience preferred.
·  Relevant clinical credential or certification is preferred where applicable to the candidate's background.
·  Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple priorities, support clinical teams, and respond calmly to changing operational needs.
·  Working knowledge of clinical workflows, patient privacy, infection-control practices, and general healthcare compliance expectations.
·  Comfort using electronic health record systems and other clinical/administrative software.

Skills & Leadership Characteristics

·  Strong communication, organization, and follow-through.
·  Approachable leadership style with the ability to coach while maintaining accountability.
·  Sound judgment and ability to recognize when an issue should be escalated.
·  Ability to build trust with providers and clinical staff without creating competing lines of authority.
·  Commitment to patient care, professionalism, teamwork, and clinical excellence.
·  Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage changing priorities across multiple locations.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

·  Ability to stand and walk for extended periods in a clinical setting.
·  Ability to occasionally lift and move clinical supplies or equipment, typically not exceeding 25 pounds.
·  Work is primarily performed in a clinical office environment.
·  Travel between SWP locations may be required based on operational needs.
·  Occasional evening or weekend availability may be required for operational needs or special projects.

Benefits

SWP's current Clinical Operations Manager description identifies benefits including medical, dental, vision and supplementary coverage; a 401(k) or similar retirement plan with employer matching; paid time off; bonus opportunities; professional development opportunities; and discounts on services and products. Final benefits for this position should be confirmed before posting.

About the Opportunity

This is an opportunity for a strong clinical team leader to step into a formal supervisory role and help shape consistent, efficient, high-quality clinical operations across a growing dermatology practice. The successful candidate will be highly visible in day-to-day operations, will work closely with the Clinical Operations Manager and providers, and will play an important role in staff development and the patient experience.
