Job Summary/Objective:

Multisystemic Therapy (MST) is a unique, goal-oriented, and comprehensive treatment program designed to work with families whose youth have significant challenges.  MST interventions focus on key aspects of the youth’s life, such as family relations, school performance, peer relations, and neighborhood and community relations. MST is a youth-guided and family-driven model.  All interventions are designed in full collaboration with family members and key figures in the youth’s life – parents, probation officers, school personnel, etc. The aim of MST is to empower parents and assist the youth in achieving their goals.

Essential Duties and Functions:

  • Completes psychosocial assessments inclusive of a diagnosis, case conceptualization, level of care assessment, and recommendations for treatment.
  • Engages in person-centered planning to develop goals and objectives. 
  • Utilizes the evidenced based practice of Multi Systemic Therapy to address behavioral and problem sexual disorders in adolescents. 
  • Engages in risk assessment and completes safety planning with youth and families.
  • Coordinates appropriate referrals to other youth-oriented programs such as Outpatient,
  • Wraparound, and/or Youth Peer Support Services.Provides on call crisis support. 
  • Strengthens partnerships with community stakeholders.
  • Performs outreach prevention activities within the community.
  • May conduct educational presentations.
  • Maintains record compliance according to agency guidelines and standards as well as funding source regulations. 
  • Shall ensure compliance and participation with competency improvement activities including, but not limited to credentialing, continuing education (per licensure).

Qualifications:

Educational

  • Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work or related field with Certification in the State of Michigan as a Licensed Master's Level Social Worker (LMSW) or Limited Licensed Psychologist (LLP) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) preferred; Limited Licensed Master's Level Social Worker (LLMSW) or Limited Licensed Professional Counselor (LLPC) requires supervision by a fully licensed professional within their discipline.

Basic Qualifications

  • One year of experience in a behavioral health care setting utilizing evidence-based practices with youth.
  • Meets eligibility as a Child Mental Health Professional as defined by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services provider qualifications.
  • CAADC required or willingness to work toward CAADC (Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor). 
  • Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Active driver’s license.Must support a trauma informed culture of safety to aid customers in their recovery process.
  • One (1) year of computer experience – Word, Excel and electronic medical record software preferred.

A trauma-informed approach to service delivery emphasizes physical and emotional safety, choice, empowerment, and trustworthiness for customers.  The impact of trauma is broad and touches many life domains.  Participation is mandatory for activities required for Summit Pointe to become a “Trauma Informed System of Care.”

Physical Requirements:

  • Professional office environment that generates noise from computer equipment/peripherals.
  • Possible exposure to health risks (violence and infectious diseases).
  • Sometimes lifts, carries, or moves objects up to 25 lbs.
  • May be required to work variable hours/shifts.
