Job Title: Cloud Automation Engineer
Duration: 12-18 Months Contract
Location: Chandler, AZ (Hybrid)
Required Pay Scale: $68-$70hr

Job Summary:
The Cloud Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, engineering, and automating cloud infrastructure services that align with enterprise architecture standards. This role builds Terraform modules, automation templates, and deployment playbooks that enable consistent, scalable, and secure cloud adoption across the organization. The engineer evaluates new tools, improves existing infrastructure services, and drives continuous improvement across cloud platforms, networking, security, and DevOps pipelines. This position requires deep expertise in Terraform, cloud networking, automation frameworks, and enterprise‑scale cloud environments.
Project Details:
- Enterprise cloud modernization initiative focused on automating IaaS/PaaS provisioning using Terraform Enterprise.
- Build and enhance Terraform modules, landing zones, and cloud‑native security patterns.
- Integrate automation with CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, logging, and observability tools.
- Support multi‑cloud adoption and standardization across AWS/Azure/GCP.
- Partner with architecture, security, and infrastructure teams to ensure all cloud deployments meet governance, compliance, and Well‑Architected Framework standards.
- Evaluate third‑party cloud tools and contribute to reference architectures, blueprints, and engineering playbooks.
Must Haves
- Terraform Expertise - strong experience writing Terraform modules, reusable configurations, and IaC patterns.
- Terraform Enterprise (TFE) for provisioning, governance, and policy enforcement.
- DevOps/GitOps experience: IaC, config‑as‑code, policy‑as‑code, pipelines.
- Strong cloud networking knowledge: VPC/VNet, subnets, routing, load balancers, firewalls, DNS, security controls.
- Experience building enterprise‑scale IaaS/PaaS solutions.
- Understanding of landing zones, cloud‑native security, monitoring, logging, and Well‑Architected Framework.
- Experience with containers & CI/CD: Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker, Jenkins, pipelines.
- Proficiency in Terraform, Ansible, Python, Bash (automation & scripting).
- Experience with cloud observability tools (logging, metrics, tracing).
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across global teams.
- 5+ years Cloud Automation Engineer experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
Desired Skills
- Financial services industry background.
- Experience with multiple public cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Prior experience on infrastructure/platform engineering teams.
- Linux/UNIX system administration.
- Advanced experience with Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker.
- Experience evaluating third‑party cloud tools and contributing to reference models, blueprints, and playbooks.
- Familiarity with Confluence, documentation standards, and engineering governance processes.
- Experience acting as a technical consultant/SME across cloud automation domains.
