Job Summary

The Cloud Data Architect is a senior member of the BI & Analytics team and will be responsible for architecting, designing, and governing enterprise-scale cloud data platforms, including cloud data lakes and cloud data warehouses, to support reporting, analytics, and advanced data use cases.

This role will lead the data architecture strategy for the organizations analytics modernization journey, defining scalable, secure, and high-performance cloud data solutions.

The Cloud Data Architect will partner closely with IT leadership, business stakeholders, and analytics teams to enable a standardized, best-in-class analytics ecosystem across all TAH entities. This role requires strong experience with cloud-native data architecture, data modeling, and large-scale analytics platforms. Experience with Azure and Databricks is strongly preferred, though candidates with comparable experience on other cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Snowflake, etc.) will be considered.

Job Details/Responsibilities

Define and Own Enterprise Cloud Data Architecture and Strategy for Analytics

  • Own and lead enterprise cloud data architecture across BI/EDW, analytics, and AI/ML, including Databricks Lakehouse, Delta Lake, and Medallion patterns for all data types.
  • Set architectural standards and drive delivery end-to-endfrom design through productionthrough reviews, documentation, and informed technical decision-making.

Lead Analytics Modernization and Legacy EDW Migration

  • Define target-state architectures and phased migration strategies using Databricks, Lakehouse, and cloud data warehouse pattern
  • Provide architectural leadership for migration and modernization, including data refactoring, integration patterns, and adoption of cloud-native capabilities with strong security and performance controls.
  • Partner with business and analytics stakeholders to manage risk and ensure migrated solutions meet reporting, analytics, and long-term enterprise standards.

Architect and Govern the Enterprise Data Platform

  • Provide architectural leadership for engineering, operations, and production support, including Databricks platform administration, CI/CD automation, performance optimization, cost management, and adherence to SLAs.

Establish Data Governance, Security, and Platform Standards

  • Ensure strong data governance and analytics enablement, enforcing security, quality, and compliance standards while enabling self-service analytics through trusted data products, documentation, and stakeholder collaboration

Provide Technical Leadership and Architectural Guidance

  • Lead and provide day-to-day technical direction, task prioritization and architectural guidance to a small team of data engineers, including internal shared-services resources and vendor partners, to deliver enterprise cloud data platforms and analytics solutions.

Enable Advanced Analytics and AI/ML Capabilities

  • Continuously assess and integrate evolving Azure, Databricks, Machine Learning, and AI capabilities into the enterprise roadmap where they deliver measurable business value.
  • Support responsible adoption of next-generation AI approaches by enabling secure, governed access to enterprise data and strengthening metadata, lineage, and traceability foundations.

Incumbent must follow all established Environmental Health & Safety and Quality System policies, programs, rules and practices, including but not limited to product and patient safety, the health and safety of all associates as well as the environment and community at large.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA)

  • Strong expertise in cloud data architecture, including Lakehouse and cloud data warehouse patterns, supporting BI/EDW, analytics, and AI/ML workloads
  • Hands-on experience with Azure Databricks and Delta Lake (Medallion architecture)
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, Python, PySpark, and Spark SQL
  • Experience designing enterprise-scale batch and real-time data solutions
  • Strong understanding of data governance, security, compliance, and data quality
  • Proven ability to lead design discussions, conduct architectural reviews, and guide teams on technical decisions and tradeoffs
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, translating business needs into scalable architectures
  • Experience supporting analytics and BI consumption patterns
  • Familiarity with SAP ERP analytics integration (S/4HANA or ECC), including source system processes and analytical data extraction, is a strong asset
  • Experience with BI and visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau is a plus
  • Strong ability to operate in a fast-paced, evolving environment, balancing priorities while maintaining architectural rigor
  • Keen sense of maturity, judgment and diligence required to:

Qualifications/ Background Experiences

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields, or combination of equivalent experience
  • 10 years of experience designing and delivering enterprise data and analytics platforms
  • Proven experience architecting cloud-based data platforms, including Lakehouse and cloud data warehouse solutions
  • Experience with modern cloud data platforms such as Azure Databricks
  • Strong experience with Azure data services (experience with Microsoft Fabric is a plus)
  • Demonstrated experience modernizing or migrating legacy Enterprise Data Warehouses to cloud platforms
  • Experience supporting analytics and reporting for ERP systems (SAP preferred; Oracle, JD Edwards, or similar acceptable)
  • Track record of delivering large, complex BI and analytics initiatives at enterprise scale
  • Experience in the medical devices, life sciences, or pharmaceutical industries is a strong plus
