Cloud Infrastructure Architect - Austin, TX
iSphere is looking for a Cloud Infrastructure Architect for a 10+ month hybrid opportunity in Austin. This is a senior architecture role supporting major data center modernization and cloud transformation efforts, so the client needs someone who can think strategically and still get into the technical details when needed.
You will work across cloud architecture, infrastructure modernization, networking, security, DevOps, Kubernetes, automation, and application integration. The environment spans AWS, Azure, and GCP, and the work includes helping move legacy and on-prem environments toward public, private, and hybrid cloud solutions.
This is not an architecture role where you draw a few boxes in Visio and hand the hard part to somebody else. You will help define the target state, identify the gaps, build the roadmap, guide implementation teams, and stay involved through testing, deployment, and production support.
You will also lead cross-functional initiatives involving infrastructure, application teams, enterprise architects, business stakeholders, and other technology groups. That includes designing architectural blueprints and network topologies, defining cloud standards, implementing Infrastructure as Code, improving deployment pipelines, and making sure security and compliance are built into the solution instead of added at the end.
What we need:
7+ years of cloud and enterprise infrastructure architecture experience
Strong experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure, or GCP
Deep understanding of IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS
Strong cloud networking and hybrid architecture experience
Experience with Kubernetes, containerization, microservices, and serverless infrastructure
Strong Infrastructure as Code experience using Terraform, Ansible, AWS CloudFormation, ARM templates, or similar tools
CI/CD and DevOps experience
Strong scripting skills using Bash, PowerShell, Cloud CLI, Helm, or similar tools
Experience with YAML, JSON, HCL, Docker, Terraform, Ansible, and related automation technologies
Strong cloud security, governance, identity, access control, and compliance experience
Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Dynatrace, Sysdig, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, or similar platforms
Strong technical writing and diagramming skills
Ability to lead technical teams, establish standards, and manage multiple overlapping projects and deadlines
Those are not “nice to have” bullets pulled from a wishlist. The client is specifically looking for deep, hands-on experience across cloud architecture, DevOps, Kubernetes, automation, monitoring, security, and enterprise-scale delivery.
Experience with cloud databases, data lakes, ETL/ELT, big data frameworks, AI services, or enterprise data platforms would be a plus. Eight or more years architecting and engineering enterprise cloud and hybrid solutions will definitely get our attention.
The person who does well here will be comfortable moving between architecture discussions, automation, networking, Kubernetes, cloud security, and implementation without treating each one like somebody else’s problem.
If you have spent years building and modernizing enterprise cloud environments and still like being close enough to the technology to know whether the design will actually work, we should talk.
