Key Responsibilities

  • Design and document secure, scalable AWS architectures including multi-account structures, VPCs, and cross-account integrations.
  • Architect networking solutions including Transit Gateway, VPC peering, Direct Connect, and Route 53 configurations.
  • Design compute and storage solutions leveraging EC2, ECS/EKS, S3, EFS, and other AWS services for EDP workloads.
  • Develop and maintain architecture standards, reference architectures, and infrastructure blueprints.
  • Ensure infrastructure designs meet resilience, high availability, and disaster recovery requirements.
  • Collaborate with security teams to embed security controls into architecture designs from inception.
  • Evaluate and recommend AWS services and architectural patterns that align with compliance requirements.
  • Support capacity planning, cost optimization, and infrastructure performance reviews.
  • Coordinate with government technical leads on architecture approvals and change management.
  • Provide technical guidance to cloud engineers on infrastructure implementation best practices.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • 7+ years of experience in IT operations and infrastructure management.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with AWS services and infrastructure architecture.
  • Deep expertise in AWS networking (VPC, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, Route 53, ALB/NLB).
  • Proficiency in AWS compute (EC2, ECS, EKS) and storage (S3, EFS, RDS) services.
  • Experience designing multi-account AWS environments with cross-account IAM and resource sharing.
  • Familiarity with federal compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST) and cloud compliance standards.
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation) preferred.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional certification preferred.
  • Experience supporting high-availability, mission-critical government systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of tax or financial data platform operations highly preferred.
