We are seeking a senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer with strong Azure infrastructure experience to support a migration from on-prem infrastructure into the cloud. This heavily leans towards cloud infrastructure (not DevOps or software deployment). The ideal candidate has experience building and supporting traditional infrastructure services in Azure, including servers, storage, cloud-hosted infrastructure, and migration of services from on-prem environments into Azure.

Responsibilities
  • Build, support, and mature a growing Azure infrastructure environment.
  • Support migration of infrastructure services from on-prem into the cloud (Azure).
  • Deploy and manage cloud-based servers, storage, and related infrastructure services.
  • Assist with the long-term effort to build and recreate an on-prem infrastructure environment in the cloud.
  • Partner with internal infrastructure resources to define future-state cloud infrastructure practices.
  • Provide senior technical leadership to cross-functional teams.
  • Support infrastructure operations, troubleshooting, migration planning, and cloud service build-out.
  • Help bridge the gap between traditional systems infrastructure and modern Azure cloud infrastructure.
  • Work hands-on while helping shape architecture, process, and standards.
Must-Haves
  • 7+ yrs. Hands-on Azure infrastructure experience.
  • Experience building cloud infrastructure, not just supporting DevOps pipelines or software deployments.
  • Hands-on experience with servers, storage, infrastructure services, and cloud operations.
  • Experience supporting on-prem-to-Azure cloud migration or infrastructure modernization.
  • Strong understanding of traditional infrastructure concepts and how they translate into Azure.
  • Ability to operate as a senior technical resource in a developing cloud environment.
  • Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure environments.
  • Ability to work independently in an ambiguous, evolving organization.
  • Strong communication and ability to coordinate and influence cross-functional teams
Nice-to-Haves
  • Experience with VMware or cloud migration away from VMware/on-prem infrastructure.
  • Experience with Entra ID / Azure AD.
  • Experience with hybrid infrastructure environments.
  • Experience helping organizations transition from immature on-prem environments enterprise cloud operations.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code is helpful (though this should not be a DevOps-first profile)
  • Government, municipality, regulated, or security-conscious environment experience.
  • Experience mentoring or technically leading junior/self-taught infrastructure engineers.
