Requisition ID: 103599-1 Title: Cloud Java Developer Google Cloud Spanner Location: Chicago, IL Duration: 6+ months Salary Range: $45- $48 an hour on W2
We are seeking an experienced Cloud Java Developer with strong hands-on experience in Java, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, and Google Cloud Spanner. The ideal candidate will have experience modernizing Java applications, migrating database workloads to Cloud Spanner, optimizing SQL and transaction processing, and developing scalable cloud-native applications on GCP.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze existing Java/Spring Boot applications and database interaction patterns.
Refactor data access layers to integrate applications with Google Cloud Spanner.
Modify SQL queries and transaction-processing logic to align with Spanner architecture.
Optimize read/write operations and transactional workloads for performance and scalability.
Redesign data models, indexing strategies, and primary keys to prevent Spanner hotspotting.
Implement Google Cloud Spanner best practices for distributed systems.
Work with architects, Google Cloud SMEs, and client stakeholders on application modernization initiatives.
Perform functional, integration, regression, and performance testing.
Conduct performance benchmarking and throughput validation.
Troubleshoot application, database, and distributed-system performance issues.
Document technical designs, migration considerations, implementation decisions, and lessons learned.
Required Technical Skills
6 8 years of experience in Java application development.
Strong hands-on experience with Core Java 8+.
Strong experience with Spring Boot and Spring Boot Microservices.
Experience with Spring Batch.
Strong experience developing RESTful Web Services and APIs.
Strong SQL and JDBC experience, including connection and database configuration.
Must have hands-on experience with Google Cloud Spanner.
Must have experience with Spanner PostgreSQL Dialect.
Strong understanding of distributed SQL databases.
Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL.
Experience with query optimization, data modeling, transaction management, and performance tuning.
Experience developing applications on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
