Mutual of Omaha is seeking a Cloud Platform Developer Engineer who brings both strong AWS cloud infrastructure expertise and hands-on software development experience. This distinction matters. In this role you will own and operate the AWS platform that powers application development teams across Workplace Solutions, author reusable AWS CDK constructs and shared libraries in TypeScript, and serve as the technical resource those developers call when they are stuck — whether the problem lives in the platform or in their code. You will work at the intersection of cloud engineering, software development, and platform enablement, partnering with teams across the organization to simplify cloud complexity and accelerate delivery. You will think like a developer, build shared libraries that other engineers consume, and bring a software engineering mindset to every infrastructure problem. We are especially interested in someone with a curious mindset who actively explores and incorporates emerging technologies including AI to continuously evolve our platform capabilities. If you have spent your career exclusively writing infrastructure YAML and Terraform HCL with no software development experience, this role is likely not the right fit. If you have a strong cloud infrastructure background and have also built shared libraries, authored CDK constructs in TypeScript, or worked closely alongside application development teams to solve problems at the code level, we would love to connect.
