Job Overview:
This role is for an experienced Cloud Security Engineer who will drive and support cybersecurity initiatives across a hybrid environment. The position focuses on aligning cloud and security operations with organizational objectives, overseeing SOC activities, integrating physical and cyber security, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. The engineer will collaborate closely with senior leadership, project managers, and stakeholders to design, implement, and maintain secure cloud architectures and security operations frameworks. This is a hybrid role requiring onsite presence three days per week (Tuesday–Thursday) in Fort Worth, Texas, and may involve working with diverse teams and stakeholders across the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with senior leadership, project managers, and stakeholders to align cybersecurity and cloud security initiatives with corporate objectives and ensure successful project delivery.
- Clearly communicate project risks, mitigation strategies, and status updates to senior management and stakeholders to support transparency and informed decision-making.
- Ensure adherence to cybersecurity standards, policies, and regulations, providing regular reports on security practices, posture, and compliance to key stakeholders.
- Oversee the integration of physical security measures with cybersecurity protocols to provide comprehensive protection and monitoring of enterprise infrastructure.
- Coordinate resources and manage project progress, proactively addressing issues, dependencies, and risks to ensure on-time and successful delivery of security initiatives.
- Develop and implement strategies for secure communication protocols to protect sensitive data and maintain the integrity of cybersecurity and cloud systems.
- Oversee the operations of the Security Operations Center (SOC), ensuring it is equipped with modern tools, technologies, and processes to effectively monitor, detect, and respond to security threats.
- Communicate critical security operations risks, strategies, and incident statuses to executive leadership, preparing detailed performance reports with insights on compliance, effectiveness, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Develop and implement strategies and governance frameworks for security operations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
- Mentor and guide a team of cybersecurity professionals within the security operations domain, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement through targeted training and development.
- Oversee and guide the planning, execution, and delivery of cybersecurity and cloud security projects and initiatives, ensuring they meet scope, quality, and security requirements.
- Design and execute advanced threat detection and incident response protocols to ensure rapid identification, containment, and remediation of security incidents across cloud and on-prem environments.
- Design and implement secure cloud architectures and solutions, ensuring appropriate controls are in place for identity, access management, data protection, and network security.
- Collaborate with engineering and DevOps teams to embed security into cloud-native applications, Kubernetes environments, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Develop and maintain automation and scripting solutions to improve security monitoring, configuration management, and incident response efficiency.
- Support and participate in security assessments, audits, and compliance activities related to cloud and enterprise environments.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of security policies, standards, runbooks, and procedures for cloud and SOC operations.
- Participate in virtual and onsite interviews, assessments, and internal reviews as part of the hiring and team-building process when needed.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering Technology, Information Systems, CIS/MIS, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related technical discipline; or equivalent experience/training.
- Approximately 5 years of experience in cybersecurity engineering, with a strong focus on security operations and incident response.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in cloud security engineering or closely related cybersecurity roles.
- Hands-on experience designing and implementing cloud security solutions and architectures.
- Familiarity with major cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their native security features and services.
- Experience with regulatory compliance and industry standards such as GDPR, PCI-DSS, and ISO 27001.
- Strong knowledge of cloud security best practices, including identity and access management, encryption, network segmentation, and logging/monitoring.
- Experience with Kubernetes security concepts, including container hardening, cluster configuration, and securing workloads in containerized environments.
- Proficiency in scripting (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell or similar) to automate security tasks, integrations, and workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and operate within a SOC environment, including threat detection, triage, and incident response.
- Proven ability to communicate complex security concepts and risks to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including executive leadership.
- Experience developing and implementing security governance frameworks, policies, and procedures.
- Strong project management and coordination skills, with the ability to handle multiple concurrent security initiatives.
- Ability and willingness to work onsite in a hybrid model (3 days per week, Tuesday–Thursday).
- Experience in the airline or aviation industry is a plus.
Pay Range: $48 - $52/hr.
