Wyetech is seeking an experienced Cloud Software Engineer – Level 3 to support mission-critical software engineering and data analytics initiatives within an Intelligence Community environment.
The selected candidate will develop innovative strategies to extract meaningful insights and value from structured and unstructured data, leveraging statistical methods, machine learning, and advanced analytics to identify patterns, behaviors, and relationships within complex datasets.
This position involves developing new methodologies and techniques for automated data characterization, metadata enrichment, data ingestion, and analytic processing. The engineer will collaborate with customer teams to understand mission requirements, develop scalable software solutions, and improve the characterization, movement, and reuse of mission-critical data.
The ideal candidate possesses extensive software engineering experience, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and knowledge of data enrichment and conversion methodologies, data ontologies and schemas, and structured data formats such as XML, CSV, and JSON. Experience with Java, Python, analytic development, and Apache NiFi is highly desirable.
The selected candidate will also support a suite of web-based applications that automate data management for Intelligence Community data custodians. These applications facilitate the capture of information and approvals required for compliant data movement across the customer's mission environment while standardizing and simplifying data reuse and integration with downstream tools.
Software Engineering & Development
Design, develop, integrate, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance complex software applications supporting mission-critical data analytics and processing.
Perform software requirements analysis, development, installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, sustainment, testing, validation, and issue diagnosis and resolution.
Develop scalable software solutions that support structured and unstructured data processing.
Recommend new technologies, methodologies, and processes for complex software engineering projects.
Serve as a technical lead for multiple software development teams, coordinating development activities with customers and systems engineering personnel.
Select and apply appropriate software development processes based on project requirements.
Ensure quality control of developed and modified software.
Delegate programming and testing responsibilities to development teams and monitor performance.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, software specifications, and operational procedures.
Data Analytics & Metadata Characterization
Develop strategies to extract meaning and value from structured and unstructured datasets.
Apply statistical methods, predictive analytics, machine learning, and data mining techniques to identify patterns, relationships, and behaviors within large datasets.
Utilize data exploration and visualization tools such as DataXplorer and GMAE to analyze and characterize datasets.
Develop new methodologies and techniques for automated data characterization.
Analyze requirements supporting the characterization and ingestion of new and existing data types.
Develop data enrichment, conversion, and transformation methodologies.
Work with data ontologies, schemas, and structured data formats, including XML, CSV, and JSON.
Develop simple data queries for existing or proposed databases and data repositories.
Support metadata processing, indexing, analysis, and integration with downstream analytic systems.
Cloud & Distributed Data Processing
Develop and enhance software solutions supporting large-scale distributed computing and cloud environments.
Work with distributed data processing technologies such as Hadoop, HDFS, HBase, Accumulo, Hive, Pig, and MapReduce.
Support development of analytics that operate across large structured and unstructured datasets.
Develop software capabilities supporting highly distributed and massively parallel processing environments.
Support integration and extension of Free and Open-Source Software (FOSS) and Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) technologies.
Develop RESTful services and software interfaces supporting data access and integration.
Support data serialization and transformation using JSON, BSON, and related formats.
Evaluate opportunities to improve application performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
Mission Data Management & Customer Collaboration
Collaborate with customer teams to understand mission needs and translate requirements into technical solutions.
Support web-based applications that automate data management activities for Intelligence Community data custodians.
Develop and enhance software capabilities that facilitate compliant data movement, approvals, and information management.
Support standardized data movement, data reuse, and integration with downstream tools.
Work with software engineers, systems engineers, customer stakeholders, and technical leadership to define and implement solutions.
Support mission data characterization, ingestion, enrichment, and analytic processing activities.
Ensure developed software capabilities align with customer operational requirements and established engineering standards.
Technical Leadership & Quality Assurance
Provide technical direction and mentorship to software development teams.
Coordinate software engineering activities across multiple development efforts.
Review software designs, code, and technical documentation for quality, accuracy, and completeness.
Establish and maintain software testing and quality control processes.
Develop and implement software test plans, test scripts, and validation procedures.
Identify technical risks and recommend improvements to development processes and system performance.
Support Agile development practices, software integration, and operational sustainment.
Active TS/SCI security clearance with current Full Scope Polygraph (FSP) is required.
Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in software engineering, including requirements analysis, software development, installation, evaluation, enhancement, maintenance, and problem diagnosis and resolution.
Minimum of six (6) years of experience developing software using high-level programming languages, such as Java, C, or C++.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience developing software for UNIX/Linux operating systems, including Red Hat-based environments.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in software integration and testing, including developing and implementing test plans and test scripts.
Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining complex software systems.
Experience recommending technologies and processes for complex software engineering projects.
Ability to serve as a technical lead for multiple software development teams.
Experience coordinating software development activities with customers and systems engineering personnel.
Experience ensuring quality control of developed and modified software.
Ability to delegate programming and testing responsibilities and monitor development team performance.
Experience developing data queries for databases or data repositories.
Demonstrated experience with object-oriented software design and development.
Experience developing RESTful services and working with data serialization formats such as JSON or BSON.
Experience integrating and extending FOSS/COTS software products.
Experience preparing technical documentation supporting software engineering projects.
Experience with distributed data processing technologies and open-source NoSQL platforms, including Hadoop, HDFS, HBase, Accumulo, or comparable technologies.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and technical leadership skills.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field is highly desired.
A bachelor's degree in a technical field may be considered equivalent to two (2) years of experience.
A master's degree in a technical field may be considered equivalent to four (4) years of experience.
Mathematics, Information Systems, Engineering, and similar disciplines are considered technical fields.
