Brief Job Description: The Cloud Solution Architect serves as a key technical leader under the Chief Technology Officer, for directly designing, building, and integrating enterprise cloud solutions. This role is deeply involved in the practical implementation of cloud-native architectures, migration of legacy systems, and hands-on troubleshooting across AWS, Azure, and GCP platforms. The architect works closely with development teams, infrastructure engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and cost-effective solutions that meet organizational goals.
Essential Job Functions (EJFs):
40% - Lead the hands-on design, development, and deployment of cloud-native applications and services. You will build and configure cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, ARM, and CloudFormation. Your responsibilities include migrating legacy applications to cloud platforms by refactoring them for microservices, serverless, or container-based architectures, as well as troubleshooting and resolving technical issues to ensure high availability and optimal performance. Additionally, you will implement automation for CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices to streamline development and operational processes.
25% - Guide development teams in applying cloud architecture patterns and best practices, ensuring robust and scalable solutions. By conducting technical reviews, code walkthroughs, and architecture validation sessions, you help maintain high standards and consistency across projects. Collaboration with business and IT stakeholders is key to translating requirements into actionable cloud solutions, while mentoring junior architects and engineers fosters skill development and effective solution delivery within the team.
20% - Focus on security-by-design principles in all cloud solutions, ensuring strict compliance with NIST, FedRAMP, and state cybersecurity standards. By implementing secure data exchange and interoperability through modern messaging and API technologies, you safeguard sensitive information and facilitate seamless integration. Additionally, you will continuously optimize cloud resources to achieve the best balance of cost, performance, and scalability.
10% - Document solution architectures, technical decisions, and implementation steps using industry-standard modeling tools. Communicate technical concepts and trade-offs clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
5% - Other Duties as assigned- Support agency modernization initiatives and stay current with evolving cloud technologies and public sector trends.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
• Advanced proficiency in designing, building, and troubleshooting cloud-native solutions (microservices, serverless, containers).
