The Medical Assistant provides assistance to the physicians and practitioners with patient care, administrative, environmental and organizational tasks. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: •Greets patients and assists with patient flow; •Administers medications, performs procedures directed by physician and practitioners •Assists with preparatory activities such as taking and documenting vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height and weight, and communicates abnormalities to physician or practitioner; •Reviews and documents patient medical history including medications, allergies, and medical alerts, documents in the electronic medical record; •Contact patients with lab and test results and indicates required follow-up, as directed; •Documents all medical contacts; •Assists physician and practitioners with relaying instructions to patients and families; •Replenishes supplies and removes biohazard waste from patient rooms as directed; •Maintains any necessary logs; •Participates in professional development activities to keep current with job responsibilities; •Follow all health care privacy and safety rules and adheres to Dayton Physicians Core Values; •Other duties as assigned. Required Education and/or Experience: •Requires a High School Diploma or GED and; •Two (2) year degree from a college or technical school, and; •Medical Assistant Certification •One (1) year of previous experience as a Medical Assistant; •2-4 years’ experience is preferred. •Current CPR certification, if not it must be obtained within 60 days of employment and kept current thereafter. |
